Croatian game developer Croteam has announced that its upcoming action game, Serious Sam: The Second Encounter, is beginning alpha testing this week. The developers have added most of the game's content, and they are now working on replacing placeholder art with final art, adding new particle effects, and testing the game.

Serious Sam: The Second Encounter is a follow-up to GodGames' popular Serious Sam: The First Encounter, in which players assume the role of Sam "Serious" Stone, a hero who must travel back in time to save the world from an evil plot. The new game includes 12 large single-player levels split into three new episodes--South America, Babylon, and the Medieval Age. The game will also include more than 20 multiplayer maps and a number of multiplayer options.

Serious Sam: The Second Encounter is scheduled for release in November. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
