Nintendo Direct September 2021: How To Watch Today's Announcements, Start Time, And More

This 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET livestream will focus mainly on Switch games launching this winter.

A September 2021 Nintendo Direct is set to take place today, September 23, at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET. At the time of this writing, we're now just an hour away from the start of the livestream, and today has already seen some of the show's announcements leak--by Nintendo itself, courtesy of its Japanese website. We know the broadcast will focus on upcoming Switch games, specifically those that are launching this winter (though just what Nintendo's definition of winter is remains to be seen). If you want to avoid seeing anything in advance, we suggest getting off the internet for now and waiting for the actual show. Here's how to watch the Nintendo Direct stream.

How to watch Nintendo Direct

We'll be streaming the Nintendo Direct here on GameSpot and our YouTube channel, which is embedded above. Nintendo itself will of course have the stream on its official YouTube and Twitch channels, too.

Nintendo Direct Start Time

The stream starts promptly at 3 PM PT. As Nintendo's events are prerecorded, you can expect it to begin right on time. It's set to run for "roughly" 40 minutes total.

What to expect from the Nintendo Direct

Nintendo has quite the lineup coming for the rest of 2021, including Metroid Dread, Mario Party Superstars, Shin Megami Tensei V, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl, and Advance Wars 1 +2: Re-Boot Camp.

Since the winter period can also extend to the beginning of 2022, Nintendo also has more titles that can possibly launch then as well, such as Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Splatoon 3, Project Triangle Strategy, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, and possibly even the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel--though we aren't counting on that one. It also appears a new Kirby game is coming.

Of course, both Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 are hotly anticipated, despite radio silence on any recent updates. Nintendo Directs are known for their shadow drops too, so there's still hope for a surprise like Hollow Knight: Silksong.

We could potentially hear about the rumored third Xenoblade Chronicles game. It was reportedly supposed to be revealed earlier this year, but development has allegedly been difficult. Additionally, a new Nintendo Switch controller announcement is possible too. It could be a Nintendo 64 controller to tie in with N64 games coming to Switch Online, similar to what Nintendo did with SNES coming to the online service.
