Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2's Classification Rating May Impose Restrictions In Certain Regions

Could a release date announcement be coming?

Comments

Senua's Saga: Hellblade II received an R18+ age rating in Australia back in October. This rating is commensurate to the ESRB's M (Mature 17+) rating in North America.

According to the Australian Classification Board, Senua's Saga: Hellblade II received the R18+ rating because it contains "High Impact Violence." Having an R18+ rating means that it could have some restrictions among who can purchase the game. Furthermore, the first game, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, only has an MA15+ rating, which indicates that Hellblade II may be even more intense.

A classification rating also could mean that a release date is imminent. The Game Awards 2023 is set to air on December 7, so perhaps an announcement could be made there. Microsoft first revealed the game back at The Game Awards 2019.

The last we saw of the game was back in June during the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 with a trailer showing the inner workings of Senua's mind. It also utilizes Unreal Engine 5.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade II will launch sometime in 2024 for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
