Though Sega of America earlier confirmed to GameSpot News that it would be converting its smash arcade hit to the Dreamcast, the details surrounding Daytona USA: Network Racing were only officially announced today at Sega's Gamers Day event in San Francisco.

Daytona USA: Network Racing will be port of the popular Daytona USA arcade game complete with a new online play. Players will be able to take their Daytona skills online and compete with up to three other players over SegaNet. The game will feature 10 different circuits, including three circuits from the original Daytona USA arcade game, two circuits from the Daytona USA Championship Circuits Edition arcade game, and five exclusive new circuits. Players will be able to pick their favorite of five different Daytona cars, and will be able to customize their vehicle's look and feel with the game's various customization features. The game will also feature an unannounced number of secret unlockable vehicles. An online stats system will rank worldwide players and will allow players to check their own stats against other online players. The game will feature an enhanced version of the graphics and physics engine of the Daytona USA arcade game, and will play very similarly to the arcade version.

Daytona USA: Network Racing is scheduled for a February 2001 release date.
