Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for Sully, a biographical film that sees Tom Hanks play the role of the pilot who landed a commercial plane on the Hudson River with no fatalities in 2009. Hanks plays Chelsey "Sully" Sullenberger, the pilot of US Airways flight 1549, which had 150 passengers and five crew on board when it made the dramatic emergency landing into the frigid January water outside of New York City seven years ago.

Sullenberger was hailed as a hero for saving the lives of all passengers. However, an investigation into the landing "threatened to destroy his reputation and his career," according to the film's synopsis. Take a look at the trailer below:

Sully is directed by Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood and Hanks is only just one of the movie's big-name actors. It also stars Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight, Olympus Has Fallen) as Hanks's co-pilot and Oscar-nominee Laura Linney (Mystic River, The Truman Show) as his wife.

The film is based on the book Highest Duty, which Sullenberger wrote with Jeffrey Zaslow about the emergency landing. It comes to theaters on September 9.
