The upcoming fifth Scream movie is now finished. The film--simply titled Scream--it due to hit theaters in January 2022.

The completion of Scream was announced on Twitter by co-director Tyler Gillett. He posted an image of himself and directing partner Matt Bettinelli-Olpin posing with the series's iconic killer Ghostface and stated that he was "so excited for you to see it!" Check it out below:

Scream wrapped production back in November 2020 and releases on January 14 2022. The movie features several of the cast members from Wes Craven's original Scream movies, namely Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, and Marley Shelton. They will be joined by new actors Jack Quaid (The Boys), Melissa Barrera (Vida, the upcoming In the Heights) and Jenna Ortega (Insidious: Chapter 2, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous).

Plot details are currently underwraps, but Cox recently suggested that the movie would be more than just the fifth film in a long-running series. "It's not Scream 5, this is Scream," she said. "These directors are incredible, they're making it absolutely, it's a new franchise. It's hip, it's scary, it's just a new Scream. It's not a reboot, it's not a remake, it's just a brand new launch. I think it's going to be fantastic."

As well as Scream 5, there are also new entries in the Candyman, Halloween, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre series on the way. Candyman releases in August, while Halloween Kills arrives in October. The ninth Texas Chainsaw movie is also expected soon, but that doesn't have a release date yet.
