Road Rash Spiritual Successor Gets Release Dates
Developer also explains why Road Redemption was delayed.
Dark Seas Interactive has announced Road Redemption, the spiritual successor to Road Rash, will be available on PC, Mac, and Linux on October 15, 2016. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will launch on January 15, 2017.
Road Redemption was successfully crowdfunded on Kickstarter in 2013, and was originally scheduled to launch in August of 2014. Game designer Ian Fisch explained the delay in a statement to Eurogamer.
"We decided that since our backers have had access to regularly-patched PC, Mac, and Linux beta versions of the game, that it's better to take our time and release something great, than to feel pressured to stick to our 2014 Kickstarter date and release something mediocre," he said.
"We've seen Kickstarted games like Armikrog and Mighty No. 9 release before they were ready, and I don't think that satisfies anyone," he added. "What happened with Mighty No. 9 shows that a potentially great game can be dragged down by trying to bring it to too many platforms."
Continuing, Fisch said by eschewing the previous generation of consoles, Road Redemption is able to avoid some of the issues that plagued Mighty No.9, which launched to tepid reviews.
