River City Girls Update Adds Secret Ending On Consoles
You can now get the alternate ending when you take on the secret final boss.
The criminally underappreciated brawler River City Girls has gotten an update on consoles, adding a secret ending that had been previously missing from the game. Developer WayForward says the patch is now on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One, and should be coming to PS4 soon after an "unexpected delay."
The secret ending follows after a hidden final boss fight that can be triggered by wearing two special items: the earrings from Hasebe and Mami. Hasebe's earrings are the reward for beating the game the first time, while Mami's are the reward for hunting down all the Sabu statues. The hidden final boss fight was already available on consoles, but oddly, beating it didn't change the ending significantly.
Other changes from this update include difficulty tweaks, fixes, and a revamped interaction with doors and NPCs.

River City Girls is a modern reboot of the classic brawler series, as high-schoolers Kyoko and Misako battle through the bizarrely violent River City to find their missing boyfriends, Riki and Kunio from River City Ransom. It's rife with references to obscure Japanese-only releases from the River City series, and plays with the history in some clever ways. WayForward also put out a physical version through Limited Run Games.
