Retail Radar: GRAW 2 on PSP, Sims 2: In Season

GameStop taking preorders for a portable installment of next Tom Clancy tactical shooter while EA's hit PC franchise is in for a storm.

Last month, Ubisoft revealed in its quarterly financial report that it was prepping Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 for release early next year, but it didn't announce platforms for the title. Interestingly enough, online retailer GameStop is now taking preorders for the generally expected Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3 versions of the game, as well as an edition for the PlayStation Portable. Beyond a shipping date of March 1, 2007 (likely a placeholder), and price tags of $59.99 (Xbox 360, PS3), $49.99 (PC), and $39.99 (PSP), the product listings contain no information on the game.

Elsewhere on the site is a listing for Web site The Sims 2: In Season, the next expansion pack to Electronic Arts' long-running hit franchise. Those excited at the prospect of having their sims hunt the most dangerous game of all (other sims, of course) shouldn't preorder just yet, as EA has teased that the next full-fledged add-on to the series will incorporate new weather elements.

However, the publisher hasn't offered much in the way of details as to the expansion pack's full scope. Sadly, the GameStop listing isn't much help--it's little more than a blank page with a late February 2007 shipping date and a $29.99 price tag.

Please note, while retailer listings frequently jump the gun on publishers' product announcements, they should not be taken as final confirmation of a game's existence, nor should the absence of a listing be considered as proof that a game isn't coming to a given platform.
