Respawn's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Is Still On Track For This Year

Although now the date is even more vague.

EA has released its financial report for the third quarter of its current financial year. Although the report revealed a less-than-stellar report for the October-December period, the publisher did try to point toward positives in its future, including the confirmation that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is releasing this fall.

"Looking forward, we're delighted to launch Anthem, our new IP, to grow Apex Legends and related Titanfall experiences, to deliver new Plants vs. Zombies and Need for Speed titles, and to add Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to our sports titles in the fall," EA COO and CFO Blake Jorgensen said.

Now Playing: Disney Says EA Has Been "Good" For Star Wars Games - GS News Update

At E3 2018, Respawn Entertainment CFO Vince Zampella announced the new Star Wars game is scheduled specifically for 2019's holiday season. This suggested Fallen Order would arrive in late November or early December. It's probable this is still the case, although the use of "fall" in the EA financial report instead of "holiday season" could suggest the game is now scheduled to release a little earlier.

Set between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, Fallen Order puts you in control of a Jedi Padawan who survived Order 66 and is now on the run. No other plot details or gameplay mechanics have been confirmed, but Zampella did announce that you'll be able to use a lightsaber.

EA's history of developing Star Wars games hasn't been very good recently. Battlefront II, though mechanically sound, was plagued by unfair, pay-to-win microtransactions that players managed convinced EA to drop prior to the game's launch. Visceral was working on a single-player Star Wars game, but EA shut the developer down and transitioned the project to its Vancouver studio before cancelling the title altogether. Respawn is currently the only known EA studio continuing development on a Star Wars title, which it has been working on alongside the recently released Apex Legends and an unannounced VR title.

Until I see something at E3 2019, I will not comment on EA or the game until I know exactly what I'm dealing with this Star Wars game.

I might be intrested IF the keep microtranstaction out of the effing game, and IF it play like Jedi Knight/Academy , Force unleashed series would be nice if continue Starkiller story in some way, or atlest camo, seeing as he might be dead all his clones and vader made habit of kill them when they turned on him ( I mean seriously the guy ripped Star Destroyer out of orbit and slammed it in the ground) are not and it in the same time frame, I think Force Unleashed stories were some of the greatest starwars stories in game even if they were to short

"mechanically sound" Battlefront 2? pffff. Gamespot, please stop taking the drugs you're on...they're not working. Also, EA is slowly bleeding out. Sadly it will take longer than we hoped before they fade away...

Star Wars should go to a studio that knows what they are doing. Disney Star Wars sucks and EA Star Wars games suck just as much. WB games would be a much better house for the brand.

Why is EA still making single player games? They've repeatedly said SP is dying or dead, and no one wants single player games.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Very appropriate title for this next Star Wars game as if EA is not careful it could allude to something much worse then the events in the Star Wars mythos.

Let’s just hope that EA has learned a lot from the Battlefront/loot box controversy.

Yeah no shit. I'd be extremely surprised if you couldn't

At this point, with how EA has handled star wars. Is anyone even looking forward to this anymore?

EA can't be trusted with the IP.
