Resident Evil Gets Top Honors
Capcom's multimillion selling Resident Evil is honored with a Consumer's Choice for Best PlayStation Game Overall award from SCEA.
Yesterday, Capcom announced that its best-selling PlayStation title Resident Evil has been honored by Sony Computer Entertainment America and players everywhere with the Consumer's Choice for Best PlayStation Game Overall award.
During the month leading up to E3 in Atlanta, players were encouraged to vote for their favorite PlayStation games of all time via Sony's official PSX web site. More than 200,000 votes were tallied using a secure Internet voting application on the site.
"Receiving the Consumer's Choice Award for Best PlayStation Game Overall is fantastic news for Capcom and it couldn't have happened to a better title," said Robert Lindsey, Capcom's senior vice president of sales and marketing. "To date, Resident Evil has sold more than 2.5 million copies worldwide and continues to be one of the highest selling PlayStation games of all time."
Resident Evil Director's Cut, which is a two-disc edition of the game, comes out in October (for an MSRP of US$39.99) and contains three uncut versions of the game. New enemies, camera angles, rearranged puzzles, and a preview of Resident Evil 2 on the second disc await fans in this new release.
