Razer's Biggest Announcements At CES 2024 - New Blade Laptops, High-End Gaming Chair, And More

Hardware manufacturer Razer unveiled a lineup of new products it will be showing off at CES 2024, which kicks off in earnest today, January 9. The announcements include a trio of powerful gaming laptops, a new gaming chair, and multiple accessories to enhance your home office or PC gaming setup--several of which are available now.

New Razer Blade Laptops

The biggest announcement is a line of three new Razer Blade gaming laptops, including the Blade 14, Blade 16, and Blade 18. All three sport Calman-verified displays--meaning they feature professional-grade color accuracy and clarity out of the box--as well as THX audio integration via Razer Synapse and expanded Razer Chroma RGB lighting controls thanks to Windows 11. Aside from those baseline similar features, each new Razer Blade laptop offers its own specs and features.

The Blade 16--which is the flagship model of the trio--comes with an Intel Core i9-14900HX CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090, as well as the world's first 16-inch OLED screen that can dynamically switch between UHD+ 120Hz or FHD+ 240Hz refresh rate modes. It also uses Razer's proprietary vapor chamber cooling to keep those high-end components properly cooled. The Blade 16 launches today $3000 at Razer's online store and authorized Razer retailers.

Next, the Blade 14 is a more compact option, featuring a 14-inch display with 240Hz refresh rate. It also features an AMD Ryzen 9 894HS CPU, and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, so it's safe to say the travel-friendly form factor won't come at the expense of much hardware power, thankfully. Pricing will be announced once preorders are available on January 24.

Lastly, Razer also previewed the Blade 18, which launches later in the year and will have an 18-inch 4K screen with 165Hz refresh rate. The price, release date, and further hardware specs have yet to be confirmed, but according to Razer's announcement, the Blade 18 "will be the most powerful Blade in the lineup," and will support Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, which will let users "connect multiple high-resolution gaming displays, high-speed storage, and all-in-one docks" to the laptop simultaneously. Thunderbolt 5 is also up to three times faster than current USB connectivity speeds, allowing for faster data transfer and battery charging.

One such device that can take advantage of the faster Thunderbolt 5 connections is the new Razer USB C Dock. This portable USB dock features 11 ports, including four USB-A, two USB-C, one HDMI, one 3.5mm audio jack with 7.1 surround support, an HDMI port with support for up to 4K 60hz playback, and SD/Micro SD card slot. It will be compatible with Windows, Mac, iPad, and Chromebooks. The Razer USB C Dock is available now for $120 at Razer's online store.

Office accessories

Along with the new Razer Blade laptops and the USB-C dock, Razer also announced a new gaming chair and a few accessories to enhance your PC gaming setup.

The new Razer Iskur V2 is an updated iteration of its popular Iskur gaming chair. It features unique ergonomic components, including the "6D Adjustable and Adaptive Lumbar Support System," which is a spring-loaded lumbar pad that conforms to the curvature of your spine. The adjustments happen automatically, but you can also manually customize the pad. The chair's recline angle, armrests, and memory foam headrest are also adjustable. The Razer Iskur V2 is available now for $650 at Razer's online store.

While comfortable gaming sessions are one thing, Razer also announced a new chair accessory to enhance your sense of immersion. Razer's "Project Esther" Gaming Cushion features 16 haptic actuators built with Razer's Sensa HD Haptics that deliver physical feedback based on in-game audio. The cushion connects to your PC wirelessly, and is designed to work with most gaming and office chairs. Pricing and release date are TBA, but anyone attending CES 2024 can check out a Project Esther demo at Razer's booth.

Razer's final announcement is the Razer Aether Monitor Light Bar, which is the latest device in Razer's "Gaming Room" line of Chroma RGB-equipped lamps and lighting that launched in 2023. The Aether Moniter Light Bar's LEDs can project up to 16.8 million colors and lighting effects onto your wall, and can be synced up with your existing Chroma RGB setup. Razer Aether Monitor Light Bar will launch for $130 sometime in March.
