Ubi Soft Milan is working on the first expansion pack for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield. Titled Athena Sword, the expansion will see Team Rainbow combating the scattered remains of the terrorist organization it defeated in the original game.

Athena Sword will give you an entirely new single-player campaign consisting of eight missions set in such diverse locations as Croatia, Greece, and Italy. Additionally, eight new multiplayer maps and five new multiplayer gameplay modes will be included, although no information has been provided on these modes so far. Seven new real-world weapons will be also added to the game, bringing the total of available weapons to 64. As an added bonus, three classic Rainbow Six missions are being remade and dressed up to work with Rainbow Six 3's Unreal-powered engine. Finally, Ubi Soft says that sound designers with experience working on The Matrix will be doing the expansion pack's weapon sounds.

We haven't received word yet on a release date for Athena Sword, but we'll update you with that and any other information on the expansion as soon as it's available.
