Specifically, PUBG for Xbox One will become free at 12:01 AM PT on April 19, with the free weekend coming to a close at 11:59 PM on April 22. You can find the game in the Gold Member area of the Xbox Live dashboard. An Xbox Live Gold membership is required.

In addition to the free weekend, Microsoft announced new DLC for PUBG in the form of the PUBG5 Pack. This $7 add-on comes with a new hat, a long-sleeved shirt, cuffed jeans, and hi-top boots. These are cosmetic items that do not affect gameplay. And if you buy the DLC during the free weekend, it will stay with your account if you buy the game outright.

Unlike other Game Preview titles on Xbox One, PUBG does not have a free trial available, so this is the first time gamers on Xbox One are getting to try the game for free. Of course, Xbox One users haven't been without a free battle royale experience, as Epic's Fortnite has been available for some time now.

In other PUBG news, the game's second map, Miramar, is coming to Xbox One in May.
