PS5 Restock Tracker Latest Update: Check Stock Ahead Of Black Friday

Looking to score a PS5 this holiday season? It'll be tough but not impossible.

If you signed up for PS5 restock alerts at PS Direct, make sure to check your email today. PlayStation Direct sent another batch of invites to purchase the PS5. The latest invite-only PS Direct restock will be available at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET. After the invite-only round is over, there's a chance a public queue will go live. PS Direct has done this in the past, following up a private restock with a public one at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET.

The PS5 has passed its first birthday, but despite impressive sales numbers, the console remains scarce. You've never been able to walk in a store and find one on shelves, and online stock is almost always sold out. With the holiday season upon us, demand for the PS5 will only go up as it gets added to a flurry of wishlists. It may be quite difficult to find a PS5 or PS5 Digital in time for the holidays, but it won't be impossible.

To help you out, we've rounded up all of the retailer listings for the PS5 and PS5 Digital in one place. Each time a restock is announced or randomly pops up, we'll update this article.

We see at least a couple of PS5 restocks each week at major retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart, and GameStop. Sony also has fairly regular restocks at PS Direct. But you always have to be fast (and lucky) to purchase one before stock runs out. Consoles tend to sell out in minutes, if not seconds, so it's really all about nimble fingers and good timing.

Black Friday PS5 restocks

PS5 - $500 | PS5 Digital - $400
PS5 - $500 | PS5 Digital - $400

Walmart will have the PS5 in stock starting November 22 of Black Friday week. The console will only be available to purchase online, and supply is unsurprisingly limited. Like other restocks, we'd expect Walmart to sell out quickly, but we wouldn't be surprised to see Walmart release stock in waves throughout the week. GameStop will have the PS5 and PS5 Digital in stock at select stores on Thanksgiving. We're still waiting on ads from other retailers, but we anticipate that more retailers will have the PS5 and PS5 Digital in stock for Black Friday.

Keep in mind there's also the chance that PS5 restocks will be limited to paid members at select retailers in the coming weeks.

Best Buy recently launched a $200/year membership called Totaltech, and select restocks have been limited to members. Walmart has done the same for its $98/year membership. Likewise, GameStop has made certain restocks only available to PowerUp Rewards Pro members. And, of course, Amazon could lock PS5s behind its Prime membership. Meanwhile, retailers like Costco and Sam's Club--which require memberships to shop--have always required memberships for PS5 restocks.

Recent PS5 restocks

Below, you'll find the most recent PS5 restock dates at major retailers.

  • Walmart: November 9
  • Best Buy: November 15
  • Costco: October 28
  • Antonline: October 28
  • Target: October 27
  • Amazon: October 26
  • GameStop: October 26
  • PS Direct: October 26 (register for future restocks)
  • Sam's Club: October 22

The fact that they would even link or suggest a resale site as an option isn’t only bad taste but confirms that Gamespot supports/houses scalpers…If they really stood behind gamers then they would deliver a strong message along the lines of “F that shhh!”.

If you’ve been patient enough thus far then try a little longer as they’re already starting to get easier to obtain and this will only continue in the coming months.

Id they would start putting them in stores instead of online only it would solve a lot of it.

Absurd it’s still online only.

Wow even sony rewards sold out already? Don't you have to use an ungodly amount of playstation credit card rewards points to get that? As in spending like 10k in credit purchases to accrue that much?

@matr0ska: That’s not that hard to do if you use the card as your main method of purchase.

Just forget this thing even exists for the next 3-6 months. Because that's how long it's going to take before A: the scalpers stop buying every system they can get hold of and B: there's anything actually worth playing on it that can't be played elsewhere.

Every restock will be sold out in under 10 minutes. This is the most in-demand console. It’s going to continue to immediately sell out for at least a few more months. Probably even longer, since people still don’t have anything to do, because of the pandemic.

I’d be much happier if they just physically sold these in the stores, old school. That omits the bots. 1 per customer.

It doesn’t help we’ve had COVID and they stopped selling PS4 and Xbox One early in 2020. I was wise and picked up a Xbox One X refurbished to fill the gap.

If feel like it will be a while before I get lucky and grab a PS5.

Do your research Gamespot. Sony actually has confirmed its has ceased production on all PS4's except for the Slim model and will devote those resources to churn out more PS5's. So give it a couple months.

@INBetweener: That's not what's going on at all. It's not like some factory somewhere pumping out consoles from start to finish. The problem is sourcing parts right now. Particularly the wafers from AMD who gets them from TSMC. They are already at max production, but the demand for 7nm wafers far exceeds their production capacity. Freeing up 28nm PS4 chips does nothing for production because the technology and machines used to print the chips aren't the same.

Due to bans on Huawei in some countries, they cancelled an order of 7nm wafers, so AMD will be getting some of that production capacity for extra PS5 and Xbox chips. Other devices, particularly mobile, will move more towards 5nm more this year and that will free up more 7nm production for AMD as well. Also the yield for these chips aren't as high as they could be, so you get less console chips per wafer due to defects. This should start increasing as time goes by too.

Oh, and do your research ;)

@jsprunk: Wouldn't expect ya to :) That is, unless you're posting comments that begin with telling someone else to do research and then proceed to spew completely incorrect nonsense that you made up in your head.

Things aren't going to get better unless retailers deal with the bots. Especially with restocks being such tiny numbers of units. As someone else in this thread said, we have a serious supply bottleneck that is being totally overcome with the bots. We need higher numbers of distributions to overcome that.

@bdixon76: I couldn't agree more. It's a far more consumer friendly approach to selling these units. UNFORTUNATELY.............. the retail companies don't give a wet rat f@rt where the money's coming from, as long as it's coming in. For that reason alone I don't believe we'll see any consumer friendly practices like stocking them in stores any time soon.........

@bdixon76: Pretty much this, forget online shopping and just stock them in stores where real people have to come in to buy them. Legit the problem would be solved, but they won't do this because it's way too easy to sell everything online and just make money that way. They want their products to be hard to find for the average consumer so people have more of an urgency to get their hands on it.

Better wait, because it's not only sold out all the time. Sony will also come with a better model.

You know, at this point PS5 should offer a deal where you can trade in your Xbox one x for a guaranteed pre order. I’d still pay full price for the PS5 and would happily do a conversion or buyback if they could supply where Microsoft could not. I mean, I have a nice pc but I’m now at the point where there is no point in having both xbox and pc.

To think, some are trying to sell these for $1200! I will patiently wait for the digital version at $399. There is no game out now that makes me want to waste my time hunting one down, or paying more that retail. By the Summer, they will be here - if the USA is still here...

Wow, I am shocked that worked. I got the bundle at Gamestop. Not exactly what I wanted but I am planning to return Demon Souls which came with it (that game is too hard and I'm a baby). Now I just have to wait until January 29th and hope my order is not cancelled or delayed between now and then.

@espoac: I did the same with the last batch of bundles and it actually showed up a week early. Was supposed to get it on 1/5 and showed up 12/30. Had zero issues and went without a hitch.
