PS5 Restock Tracker Latest Update: Check Stock Ahead Of Black Friday

Looking to score a PS5 this holiday season? It'll be tough but not impossible.

If you signed up for PS5 restock alerts at PS Direct, make sure to check your email today. PlayStation Direct sent another batch of invites to purchase the PS5. The latest invite-only PS Direct restock will be available at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET. After the invite-only round is over, there's a chance a public queue will go live. PS Direct has done this in the past, following up a private restock with a public one at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET.

The PS5 has passed its first birthday, but despite impressive sales numbers, the console remains scarce. You've never been able to walk in a store and find one on shelves, and online stock is almost always sold out. With the holiday season upon us, demand for the PS5 will only go up as it gets added to a flurry of wishlists. It may be quite difficult to find a PS5 or PS5 Digital in time for the holidays, but it won't be impossible.

To help you out, we've rounded up all of the retailer listings for the PS5 and PS5 Digital in one place. Each time a restock is announced or randomly pops up, we'll update this article.

We see at least a couple of PS5 restocks each week at major retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart, and GameStop. Sony also has fairly regular restocks at PS Direct. But you always have to be fast (and lucky) to purchase one before stock runs out. Consoles tend to sell out in minutes, if not seconds, so it's really all about nimble fingers and good timing.

Walmart will have the PS5 in stock starting November 22 of Black Friday week. The console will only be available to purchase online, and supply is unsurprisingly limited. Like other restocks, we'd expect Walmart to sell out quickly, but we wouldn't be surprised to see Walmart release stock in waves throughout the week. GameStop will have the PS5 and PS5 Digital in stock at select stores on Thanksgiving. We're still waiting on ads from other retailers, but we anticipate that more retailers will have the PS5 and PS5 Digital in stock for Black Friday.

Keep in mind there's also the chance that PS5 restocks will be limited to paid members at select retailers in the coming weeks.

Best Buy recently launched a $200/year membership called Totaltech, and select restocks have been limited to members. Walmart has done the same for its $98/year membership. Likewise, GameStop has made certain restocks only available to PowerUp Rewards Pro members. And, of course, Amazon could lock PS5s behind its Prime membership. Meanwhile, retailers like Costco and Sam's Club--which require memberships to shop--have always required memberships for PS5 restocks.

Recent PS5 restocks

Below, you'll find the most recent PS5 restock dates at major retailers.

  • Walmart: November 9
  • Best Buy: November 15
  • Costco: October 28
  • Antonline: October 28
  • Target: October 27
  • Amazon: October 26
  • GameStop: October 26
  • PS Direct: October 26 (register for future restocks)
  • Sam's Club: October 22

The more I wait the less interested I become, for the next two three years the ps5 will be playing ps4 games so there no legit rush besides saying “I got it” this always happen with PlayStation, my cousin the 5 and it’s really no biggie, yes I want it but it’s a want not a need you have a ps4 your still good just wait to it dies down, it’s a game the retailers are playing.

@heartlifted: Yeah I love my Pro, Kena Bridge Of Spirits, GOW Ragnorok, Horizon Forbidden West all will look and play great on PS4/Pro. Sony aren't going to shaft 116 million PS4 owners! ;o)

@heartlifted:

I think the PS5 isn't a must have item for me right now, I been enjoying my PS4 lately and have around 60 games from sales and Plus. It will probably take me 2 to 3 years to get through those games. I am willing to wait till 2023 to get a PS5 as I believe the demand will die down and there's a chance Sony bundles the system with a game. My brother has a PS5 and I really don't care that he has one, I want one but not badly enough.

Why can’t people be strong and not buy it? If the demand goes down scalpers will have to lower their prices and not bother buying it all up...

@dervrak: I can understand your frustration and see where you're coming from, but I see nothing but trouble for Amazon if they tried to play it that way.

You know people would be calling in nonstop going off on the customer service reps. "When are they coming in?!?!" "Why is it taking so long?!?!" "So and so got restocked, why haven't you?!?!"

I see no benefit for Amazon to bring that kind of heat down on themselves. It's not like they are desperate for revenue.

@dervrak: same, it's so irritating isnt it? I've given up at this point. However I've know idea when itll be possible to simply go on Amazon and successfully buy a unit with them being in stock? Despite hearing scalpers are stick with huge stocks that arent moving, they are stiop swiping up every single system around?!

If indeed GS supports the gamers and the gaming community and is trying to help people get their hands on a PS5 and/or XBoxX, then GS should not be accepting money to help promote StockX and the scalper community. It's that simple. Take them off the list, purge the site of any reference to them, stop helping them screw up everyone's good time and stop helping promote their abuse of the gaming community.

@guudgidga:

I think it's cause people want the latest console and don't want to wait till next year or whenever more become available. I know my brother got one a few days ago which did surprise me though I am in no rush to get one. I don't even have $500 saved up and wouldn't get one cause of no exclusives right now that say buy me.

@pillarrocks: like how people have to buy the new iPhone or Galaxy phone.....

It’s a smartphone, can you make and receive calls, text message and surf the internet? It’s good....

No reason to buy a phone if the smartphone you currently have already fits your needs...

@systemoverload: Good point, no need to buy a PS5 when it's 95% PS4 games either. And lots of cross gen titles on the way. ;o)

@guudgidga: Exactly. Do I want one? Hell yeah, I do. I can wait though. Eventually these will be regularly in stock. Even if I have to wait a year. My PS4 Pro still works, in the meantime.

I live in China and I paid a lot for my PS5 on a Chinese website because of the tariff issues. Yes, I paid well more than double the cost, but that was the only way I was going to get one, and I'm fortunate that the cost isn't an issue.

But I was thinking: Sony should have allowed Playstation plus subscribers to have a *reserved* shot at a console. Same with Microsoft. Now, I own stock in both of those companies, and they are selling consoles as fast as they can make them, so maybe that's just capitalism at work.

Another thing is the virus has disrupted supply chains and airline travel. Many of these products are made here in China. Often, freight is shipped on domestic air travel (it is piggybacked on domestic airlines). Guess what? There are hardly any flights out of China right now. The ones that are are often cancelled with the new strains of the virus and the failure of Western countries to contain it.

So all of this is unsurprising.

I live in Germany and I already gave up trying to get a PS5, mostly because of scalpers.

And that's not mainly their fault, they're just trying to make money on idiots like you, who purchase from them. No one should buy PS5 on ebay or other similar channels, even when they reduce the price. It would be really beautiful to see all of them dying with their 50 PS5 stuck in their garage.

Whew... after 10 frantic minutes of mashing the checkout button on Best Buy’s website on both my desktop and mobile app, I was finally able to get a PS5 with that last drop!

Yeah, it's like the biggest '**** you!' to the resellers when you get one for the retail price.

Slimy ol' GameStop artificially inflating their revenue off sales of these units with unnecessary add-ons. I don't mind a single game being thrown in and paying a little extra, but an additional controller above the single one that comes w/ the base package, 2 games and a freakin' $20 GameStop gift card??? F off. I'll wait until for the $500 base package is available for me to walk in to a retailer and buy one on the spot. As many have already pointed out:

1) There's nothing THAT GOOD that's out right now I NEED to play

2) The games that are out now to play will likely be cheaper by the time I'm able to get my hands on a PS5

3) F#*K SCALPERS!!!

@DETfaninATL: yup! The initial "I must have one" phase has long since been replaced by the "yeah, jog on bud" phase.

There aren't going to be consoles for a very long time. I highly suspect that all these new consoles(and graphics cards) were released fully knowing they couldn't produce anywhere remotely close to the quantities needed at release. I think an alternative reason this tech being released in such small batches is because nobody could hit the production price point they wanted, but nobody wanted the optics of being behind technologically.

There is a wafer shortage, but when companies like ASUS have to announce that they couldn't hit price points on their GPUs without a 50% price hike in some cases, you have to question whether these $500 4k consoles and $700 3080s are just a game of price chicken with competitors. I would certainly bet money that all these companies are heavily staggering stock until they can finally get price down and yields up enough to make it economically viable to produce enough.

Or I could be wrong and it could just be parts shortage. In which case, good luck getting ANYTHING this year, because on top of a wafer shortage, this year we can look forward to a DRAM shortage due to huge production cuts this year! Hooray progress!
