PS5 Restock Tracker Latest Update: Check Stock Ahead Of Black Friday

Looking to score a PS5 this holiday season? It'll be tough but not impossible.

If you signed up for PS5 restock alerts at PS Direct, make sure to check your email today. PlayStation Direct sent another batch of invites to purchase the PS5. The latest invite-only PS Direct restock will be available at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET. After the invite-only round is over, there's a chance a public queue will go live. PS Direct has done this in the past, following up a private restock with a public one at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET.

The PS5 has passed its first birthday, but despite impressive sales numbers, the console remains scarce. You've never been able to walk in a store and find one on shelves, and online stock is almost always sold out. With the holiday season upon us, demand for the PS5 will only go up as it gets added to a flurry of wishlists. It may be quite difficult to find a PS5 or PS5 Digital in time for the holidays, but it won't be impossible.

To help you out, we've rounded up all of the retailer listings for the PS5 and PS5 Digital in one place. Each time a restock is announced or randomly pops up, we'll update this article.

We see at least a couple of PS5 restocks each week at major retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart, and GameStop. Sony also has fairly regular restocks at PS Direct. But you always have to be fast (and lucky) to purchase one before stock runs out. Consoles tend to sell out in minutes, if not seconds, so it's really all about nimble fingers and good timing.

PS5 - $500 | PS5 Digital - $400
PS5 - $500 | PS5 Digital - $400

Walmart will have the PS5 in stock starting November 22 of Black Friday week. The console will only be available to purchase online, and supply is unsurprisingly limited. Like other restocks, we'd expect Walmart to sell out quickly, but we wouldn't be surprised to see Walmart release stock in waves throughout the week. GameStop will have the PS5 and PS5 Digital in stock at select stores on Thanksgiving. We're still waiting on ads from other retailers, but we anticipate that more retailers will have the PS5 and PS5 Digital in stock for Black Friday.

Keep in mind there's also the chance that PS5 restocks will be limited to paid members at select retailers in the coming weeks.

Best Buy recently launched a $200/year membership called Totaltech, and select restocks have been limited to members. Walmart has done the same for its $98/year membership. Likewise, GameStop has made certain restocks only available to PowerUp Rewards Pro members. And, of course, Amazon could lock PS5s behind its Prime membership. Meanwhile, retailers like Costco and Sam's Club--which require memberships to shop--have always required memberships for PS5 restocks.

Recent PS5 restocks

Below, you'll find the most recent PS5 restock dates at major retailers.

  • Walmart: November 9
  • Best Buy: November 15
  • Costco: October 28
  • Antonline: October 28
  • Target: October 27
  • Amazon: October 26
  • GameStop: October 26
  • PS Direct: October 26 (register for future restocks)
  • Sam's Club: October 22

I love my PS4 controller, and hated the Xbox One controller, which is one reason among many why I got rid of the Xbox 1 and traded it in for a PS4 Uncharted model some years back. I am saddened to see that this PS5 controller not only resembles the fat Xbox One controller, but that it too will be using batteries. Why? Why does Sony start emulating the Xbox One's mistakes? Bad omen. I hope that the PS5 will be able to work with a PS4 controller.

@jgarbuz: PS5 isn't using batteries, it is using a rechargeable like the PS4... granted the design it a bit different but it isn't fatter the main thing I see different is the hand grips are longer... but don't really see a change in girth.

@isheltoe:

I hope you're right and also hope the console will remain slim and not be a tower like the new Xbox appears will be. The 360 was not too bad once it finally got past its initial terrible unreliability problems, but the Xbox 1 was horrible in every respect to me, which is why I leaped over to my PS4 which I genuinely love. The PS4 controller for me is the most comfortable I have ever held. I had hoped that the PS5 would also somehow be engineered to accommodate two PSVR headsets for two people to experience VR or whatever together. So I'm not going to be the first online to get a PS5 and will wait and see the whole package.

Primarily a PC gamer given the option. This past Gen though I did buy both consoles within the launch year, but I'm going to sit this one out for a while.

I didn't use either console as much as I thought, the XBO even less since MS games tend to launch on PC.

@seanwil545: Well, yeah. That was a waste considering the Xbox had pretty much nothing to offer that you couldn't get on the PS4. While most games were running at a lower res for quite some time, until I assume developers eventually managed to get around the limitations of the weaker hardware.

The PS4 has plenty of exlusives that you won't find on PC but I dunno if you care about those as a PC gamer.

@Atzenkiller:

XBO was a Black Friday deal.

I wanted to play Rise of TR which was delayed on PC and PS4...so there's that.

I also played a lot of Forza at the time...Forza also was not on PC at the time and will never come to PS platforms, so there's that as well.

I used the PS4 for games like 2ndSon, Uncharted 4, The Last Guardian, TLOU, etc. I still want to play Horizion Zero Dawn, but that's coming to PC so I'll wait for it there.

IMO...at the time a PC and WiiU covered most of the games minus the off PS4 exclusive.

I have a 13 y/o son, so the consoles haven't gone to waste.

Naaaa thanks, XBsX day one for me, but I will buy PS5 by 2024-25 when the few exclusives will be cheaper.

Why are they taking so long for the console reveal, maybe the heating issues are true & they have to go back to the drawing board?

@just1mohr: The few ? PS4 has 74 exclusive titles and Xbox One 12. I doubt the next generation will be any different. Also, Sony is not late, Microsoft is early. Both the Xbox 360 and Xbone were revealed in mid to late May. The PS4 design was revealed in June during E3.

@nickrighton: Dude, MS has a lot more exclusives than 12. Here is a full list & all in orange, red, & brown are console exclusives to XB family of consoles. There is also a list on the XB store & it is way more than 12, a number in the 70's.

@hrv_25: It's actually the first time ever when a new console is worth picking up for everyone right at launch, simply because you'll be able to play most last gen games with improved performance. Or that's how it was supposed to be at least but it seems Sony wasn't completely honest when they made that claim. Guess we'll see how many PS4 games will actually be able to run on it at launch. But if you had a choice between waiting and using your old PS4 while missing out on any PS5 games that you might be interested in, and buying a PS5 right away and still mainly playing PS4 games on it if you wanted to, the latter seems preferable to me.

But what are we talking about here anyway? Money? With the amounts of money that people throw at anything nowadays spending $400 or maybe $500 at most every few years on a new console is nothing in comparison. And prices don't seem to drop too much nowadays over the life cycle of a console either. So the main reason to not get the first batch are still all the problems that those consoles tend to have.

@Atzenkiller: how did you come to the conclusion that I am unwilling to pick up ps5 right after launch due to money?? I literally said because there will not be crap ton of good exclusives right off the bat. Ps4 picked up pace after uncharted 4 and that's when I bought it. I have a PC too for any multiplats that will be releasing after console launches.
