Developer Superbrothers has announced that Jett: The Far Shore has been delayed to 2021. Revealed at Sony's June PlayStation Showcase that also officially unveiled the PS5 console, Jett was also due to release simultaneously on PS4 and on PC via the Epic Games Store this year. In a statement, the studio explained that the delay came from wanting to increase the quality of the game and look after the wellbeing of its staff.

"As of now it seems we're in need of more time in order for Jett to soar, and for the squad to complete this interstellar trip in good condition," Superbrothers said. "Jett: The Far Shore is now fixing to deploy in 2021 on PlayStation consoles and PC on the Epic Games Store. Hectic times, so we've revised our trajectory. It'll be stellar, when it alights."

Now Playing: Jett: The Far Shore Trailer | Sony PS5 Reveal Event

Aside from the June reveal trailer, details on the new Superbrothers game have been sparse so far. What was shown in the first trailer was a journey into outer space that spans multiple centuries as humanity makes its way to an alien planet in search of a new home.

According to Superbrothers, players will guide an explorer by the name of Mei as she scouts a new planet alongside her co-pilot Isao and investigates an interstellar transmission known as the hymnwave that sits at the heart of a cosmic mystery.

"We've had a strong focus on audio and haptics since we carved out Jett's concept, so of course we're thrilled about the new Dualsense controller," Superbrother's said of the PS5's hardware. "As for what the PS5 uniquely offers in terms of 3D audio processing: it's revelatory, and it's a great fit for Jett. This may sound silly, but with the PS5 it's as if you really have ears in a videogame for the first time. There is suddenly an unprecedented fidelity available for perceiving audio spaces."

While Jett: The Far Shore won't arrive in time for the launch of the PS5 console, other games such as Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon's Souls, and several other backward compatible PS4 games will still allow for a healthy catalog to dip into on November 12.
