Patch 2.08 is now available to download for Dreams on PlayStation 4. The latest update for Media Molecule's creating and sharing platform adds some new characters and a couple of edit mode changes.

The full patch notes detail the Welcome Garden Character Pack, which introduces two new playable characters, an NPC, and a few enemies. You can use each of these characters in your creations, and their aesthetic goes well with the previously released Welcome Garden Art Pack.

The rest of the newly implemented changes are centred around Dreams' edit mode. There's a new Blank Puppet designed for platforming gameplay, and you can now navigate the Dreamiverse using the directional buttons on your controller, as well as a few other improvements.

Dreams 2.08 full patch notes

What’s new?

  • Welcome Garden Character Pack - Our Welcome Garden Character Pack introduces two new playable characters, a non-playable character, and a handful of enemies. Enjoy using them in your creations - they mix perfectly with our Welcome Garden Art Pack!
  • New Blank Puppet - Our first new Blank Puppet is designed for platforming gameplay, and is the basis for our Welcome Garden characters.
  • Directional Button Controls for Dreamiverse - You can now navigate the Dreamiverse using the directional buttons on your controller.

Other improvements

  • New Tweak: On tweaking a stroke, you'll find the Sun Shadow Scale vs Detail tweak. This lets you adjust sunlight shadows for the right balance between detail near the camera, and how far away from the camera shadows are cast.
  • Updated: Changes to audio recording. Recording time has been reduced to 15 seconds per clip.
  • Other minor tweaks and improvements.

Released back in February, Dreams earned a score of 9/10 in GameSpot's review. "Dreams is a refined constructor for building a wide variety of games, and a community-centric showcase where others can play them. It's a stunning achievement that encourages limitless creative expression, a place where people can come together, collaborate, and explore each other's imaginations. It's a tool for the fools who dream, and one of the most innovative releases in years."
