PS4 Free Online Play Weekend Starts Friday

Sony has announced a free online play weekend for PlayStation 4.

Starting Friday and running through Monday, all console owners can use PS4's online multiplayer features for free. Normally, online play requires a paid PlayStation Plus membership.

Note that the free play weekend does not give you access to PlayStation Plus free games. To get those (here are December's free games), you'll need to subscribe to PlayStation Plus.

The free multiplayer weekend comes as Star Wars Battlefront's Battle of Jakku expansion arrives. The content launched today, December 8, for all players following its initial rollout last week.

The free weekend officially begins December 11 at 12:01 AM PST / 3:01 AM EST and ends Sunday, December 13, at 11:59 PM EST / 2:59 AM EST.
