PS3 sales almost 24 million, PSP near 56 million

MayceV, why are you always on PS3 posts if you think the 360 is so much better. Xbox360 obviously isnt good if it cant keep you entertained enough so you come here and try to start console wars. Dudes like you make the xbox360 look bad.

This article is such an I love you to the PS3 fanboys that its actually funny. First the title "PS3 sales almost 24 million, PSP near 56 million" as if the sales are good but 24 million still puts the PS3 as the worst selling console of this generation and the PSP is still about half the sales of the DS series. When you read the actual article the first paragraph state Sony is still losing money and their sales are down the second actual compares the Playstation consoles sold to the Nintendo consoles and shows how little progress theyve made.

The problem with these numbers is how Sony defines 'sold'. Once a machine is made and in the warehouse it is counted as 'sold'. I would like to see some real numbers on how much the PS3 has actually been bought by consumers then we would get some real numbers.

if i got a ps3 it would just be for mgs4, none of the other exclusives interest me.

look the only real problem with the ps3 is it being overpriced but the ps3's signature games metal gear solid 4 and motorstorm 2 and more, are worth buying the console and the xbox's main game Halo 3 wasnt even rated a 10 like mgs4

Fallout 3 isn't a 360 exclusive.

funny how you say the 360 is a piece of crap, yet the game you have as your name/avator is far superior on the 360...LOL The Irony!

I say pricecut it dosnt matter if the 360 drops too no one wants one of those piece o craps and nintendo just said it wouldnt cut the price sonys gonna rule this generation too well it will if it cuts the price

I dont think I ll ever buy a ps3 !

With all the good exclusive upcoming games coming out for PS3, the next price drop will tempt me to get one. Until then, I'll stick to my current-gen PC.

As soon as God of War III comes out, you can add one more sale to that number, courtesy of me. Until then, I'm waiting it out.

psn is better then live in terms of player count because of the servers. But live is more user friendly like going into party's its just so easy to play with your friends on live.

I'm interested to find out how the eventual price cut/PS3 Slim will affect sales.

@ Brendanhunt1 I've never used PSN (though I have a PS3) but I can say in regards to Live that it is very good. The only game I have occasional lag issues with Halo 3 but my internet at my house is pretty terrible. But CoD4, Gears2, L4D are all laggless.

psn used to have some lag problems but thats over now. as long as i can play online games im happy. i never used live before so i dont know if it's better than psn.

to sell nearly 10 million ps3 units in about 6 months. that would be impressive.

@ mayceV 1) M$ have cheap adverts on XBL 2) XBL has a fee for non-dedicated servers 3) PSN is coming out with better downloadable content and services like vidzone and home....which M$ can never match. 3) i dont see M$ doing 32, 40 or 60 player online games, im sure their not even dreaming of 256 players yet. 4) Xbox's 3 year lineup got killed by PS3's 2009 lineup it self. 5) its proven xbox stop working after slight nudges or vibrations (as tested by the BBC programme watchdog) 6) a PS3's HDD would not corrupt if you moved it vertically, it obvisouly has a chance if you turn it upside down and shake it. 7) overall a PS3 is waaaaaaay cheaper then any 360 model.

@blazey09 1. dashboard is faster than playstation nenu system 2. It'd only be laggy if you didn't set the correct region 3. Live is better than PSN M$ centered everything around it 4. you have to know how to use a disk drive if I,for example, put a CD of a bunch of songs in my computer CD drive and proceeded to beat the hell out of my computer as it was ripping songs. then my disc will be destroyed. But if I was normal and perered not to throw my Computer agains the wall as it rips my moosik, then I wouldn't have a problem. Plus it you move a Ps3 when it installing a game the HDD will be curpted It happened to my friend. So are Sony's HDD garbage? no you just aren't supposed to move them around.

have you seen how much it costs to produce a ps3 nowadays? its about 279$ and they are pricing it at 400$

but i never had a problem with my 60 gig ps3 or my wii or handhelds go figure

@rgjj wow I guess you dont want to tell me but fact is about 80% of 360 users at about the consoles first 2 years had those cooling fans because it seemed like the smart thing to do fact is those stupid fans killed many of those consoles. MS publicy announced this fact shortly thereafter and said do not use them the 360 will cool itself just fine. I had one for my first 360 and dead at 4 years my second one no fan and all good.

thats preety good considering the price of the ps3..once it goes down on price it will do much better

i'm on my fourth 360 two rrod and after microsoft sent me the third one, i swapped it and got a new elite

@TevoxZi I would argue that Graphics are the most important part of a game. Look at the resources for all games since 1992. Most of the disc space and memory goes toward graphics. You can't really call videogame images graphics they're just detailed polygons. These make up a huge portion of video gaming. Also, to me, videogames are made to take you into a new and different world. What puts you into that world, graphics. So graphics are the most important part of a videogame. It is not the only factor but it is the most important:)

@Ashman555 yeah I think people don't stick enough with each game they get I mean I started a new Gamertag so i get to beat all my games again and the little you gained an achievment will pop up Yay! life span is actually quite long in most games because difficulties and Gamescore/trophies.

come on busters face the facts, its safe to say we pretty much have had more than one xbox 360. with that said, have any of u ever had to go buy or send in any other system that u have owned in your life time i mean from before nes to now!

@mayceV You forgot a really important game feature LIFESPAN, most games made today can be finished within a day and/or unless the multiplayer is very addictive it wont last

Also for the newcomers, my PS3 list is below.

@TevoxZi well Splinter cell has amazing graphics and graphic aren't eveything anyway I like halo more than alomost every game that game is jus plain fun. Cod 5 doesn't have the greates graphics its my second favorite game So to me I don't give a damn if the graphics are amazing. Graphics come second to gameplay in in certian genres (horror) third to sound.

just get both consoles and you wont give a sh*t about exclusives..

Now for my list of 360 game exclusives since January: 1. Infernal Hell's Vengeance- This did not get good ratings virtually anywhere though, 2.Raiden Fighter Aces- Not generally good reviews, but Okay I guess. 3. Battlestations Pacific-Also on PC 4. Velvet Assassin- Okay reviews, not groundbreaking or amazing. (Unlike Infamous/ Killzone 2) 5. Ninja Blade- Same comment as Velvet Assassin 6. Halo Wars- Dissapointing to say the Least 7. Star Ocean: Last Hope- Probably highest rated. And 8: Race Pro- Same comment as Velvet Assassin. So just two more exclusives than the PS3. But the amount of great exclusives is still greater, by at least one, out of these exclusives. As a proportion, this would be something massive like 2-1 times ten to: 20-10. Although, this would just be like a statistical outing. In the end it is up to opinion.

X360 was about £250-£300 when it came out, and it was just a console 20gig hdd and controller.. and that 5 years ago. PS3 is not overpriced!
