Thus far, the result of this decision has been spotty trophy support for games that were released before the update went into effect in July. Some high-profile games, such as Burnout Paradise and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, have seen updates retrofitting their titles with the awards, while others, notably Metal Gear Solid 4, have remained unawarded.

Today, Rockstar Games hopped from column B to column A, saying that trophies will be patched into Grand Theft Auto IV on October 27. The title update will include 51 trophies in all, one more than the total number of Xbox 360 gamerscore achievements.

Rockstar also provided a small sample of the types of tasks gamers will have to complete to be awarded the trophies. Matching up closely with the Xbox 360 achievements, the trophies include One Man Army, where players must survive for five minutes with a 6-star wanted level, Dare Devil, for those who sail off all of Liberty City's unique stunt jumps, and Chain Reaction, awarded for blowing up 10 vehicles in under 10 seconds.
