Production Of House Of The Dragon Season 2 Will Continue Despite Hollywood Writers' Strike

The Hollywood writers' strike has prompted concerns that several projects filming in the UK could be affected. However, according to Variety, the hit show House of the Dragon will not be one of them.

According to an unnamed source, the production will not be affected by the ongoing writers' strike because the scripts for the show's second season were completed prior--eliminating the need for any additional writing work. As a result, the production will be exempt from the strike's impact on US projects filming in the UK, and will continue as planned.

The WGA called for the strike to begin on May 3, after the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers ended contract talks with the WGA on May 1, hours before the contract expiration deadline. Under strike rules, WGA members working internationally must stop active writing work on any project that falls within the union's jurisdiction.

The series, based on author George R.R. Martin's book "Fire & Blood," has been filming its second season at Warner Bros.' Leavesden Studios since April 11. Showrunner Ryan Condal announced the start of shooting with a statement on the same day.

"House of the Dragon has returned," Condal said. "We are thrilled to be shooting again with members of our original family as well as new talents on both sides of the camera. All your favorite characters will soon be conspiring at the council tables, marching with their armies, and riding their dragons into battle. We can't wait to share what we have in store."
