Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake is reportedly getting an overhaul and being remade from scratch again.

According to Insider Gaming, Ubisoft Montreal has apparently completely redone the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake. While footage was provided, it was under the condition that it wouldn't be shown publicly. Insider Gaming describes the footage as the game being in early development with missing textures and assets.

The overhaul reportedly includes a more realistic graphical approach with new animations and mechanics for combat and parkour. Additionally, it appears that voice actor Yuri Lowenthal is reportedly no longer reprising his role. He was the the Prince's original voice actor and also appeared in the remake's initial reveal trailer.

Ubisoft is reportedly going to provide a more substantial update on the remake's progress, but it's unclear when that will be. Ubisoft is hosting its Ubisoft Forward presentation in June, so it's possible that it will make an appearance there. However, fans of the series have been given treats with the excellent Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which was released back in January, and there's a rumor that a roguelike Prince of Persia game is in the works by Dead Cells developers Evil Empire and Motion Twin.

The remake was originally developed by Ubisoft Mumbai and Ubisoft Pune, but has been delayed multiple times. Back in May 2023, Ubisoft confirmed that the remake was still in an "early stage" after development was shifted to the Montreal team.
