All preorders of Like a Dragon Gaiden will unlock three characters to use in the game when they're available, as you'll be able to step into the ring as Goro Majima, the Mad Dog of Shimano, Taiga Saejima, otherwise known as the Slayer of Eighteen, and Tojo Clan chairman Daigo Dojima.

Taking place after the events of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, Like a Dragon Gaiden follows Kiryu as he adopts a new identity and operates under the codename Joryu. Having faked his death in order to protect his family, Kiryu finds himself caught up in a conflict orchestrated by a mysterious figure who is attempting to drive him out of hiding.

Like other Yakuza games--which have been retitled to Like a Dragon--this new entry focuses on both action and storytelling. Like a Dragon games typically have a narrative-heavy structure, and you can easily play a chapter per day until you reach the conclusion thanks to the episodic nature of these games. When you do need to engage in action, Kiryu isn't a pushover. As one of the toughest Yakuza in existence, he can unleash aggressive moves through his two fighting styles, Yakuza and Agent.

Yakuza style is a wild selection of attacks powered by Kiryu’s unparalleled strength, while Agent style focuses on speed, precision, and an array of high-tech gadgets to take out enemies. For the post-launch content, Sega is teasing The Castle, an arena inside of a cargo ship where players can battle opponents to become the king of cage fights.

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name officially launches for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One on November 9.

If you need to catch up on the franchise, just about every Yakuza game is on sale at Fanatical right now.

Disclosure: GameSpot and Fanatical are both owned by Fandom.
