Premium Series memory cards for PS2 on the way

Sony gears up yet another holiday promotion in Japan, kicks off new campaign November 27.

TOKYO--This was a busy week for Sony, with the unveiling of the PSP concept model, and announcements of price drops and new console colors for the PS2. The company also announced plans to issue some special memory cards to complement the new console colors in its lineup. Dubbed the "Premium Series," these cards feature illustrations of characters from a number of PS2 games.

The first set of the 8 MB cards go on sale November 27, with additional releases every week until the end of the year. All memory cards in the Premium Series will sell for 2,800 yen ($24.50), and the featured characters will be drawn from classic favorites as well as games scheduled for release later this year.

November 27 release: Sarugetchu, Dokodemo Issho, Minna no Golf, Wild Arms Alter Code: F
December 4 release: Mobile Suit Z Gundam A.E.U.G. vs. Titans, GT 4 Prologue
December 12 release: Biohazard Outbreak, Momotaro Dentetsu 12 Nishi Nihon Shu mo Arimasse!
December 18: Sonic Heroes, Taiko no Tatsujin
December 25: Hajime no Ippo 2 Victorious Road
