Tri Synergy and developer Ascaron Entertainment have today announced the release of Port Royale for the PC. The game, which is set in the Caribbean in the 16th and 17th centuries, sees players assuming the role of a trader, a pirate, or a buccaneer and attempting to make money and gain power for themselves by any means necessary.

"Port Royale presents PC gamers with a plethora of gameplay options and scenario outcomes," said Shane Nestler, executive vice president of Tri Synergy. "Players will quickly learn that Port Royale has a deep and rich storyline. One must work diligently to conquer and overcome weaker enemies in order to eliminate the possibility of future competition, yet a player's intelligence and careful observations can make or break a successful journey just as easily."

In addition to the single-player game, Port Royale features Internet and LAN support for up to eight players simultaneously. For more information, check out our previous coverage of the game.
