Pokemon Go has added its first new Sword and Shield Pokemon today, as the final part of the Throwback Challenge 2020 event. Galarian Meowth, Galarian Zigzagoon, Galarian Darumaka, and Galarian Stunfisk have all been added into the game.

The Throwback Challenge 2020 Championship special research runs from June 3-8 and is only available to players who have completed the previous challenges. Alongside this special research comes a bunch of features for those who didn't complete the previous challenges, including the chance to get the new Galarian Pokemon.

All four Pokemon will be available in 7 km eggs and as reward encounters for the special research. The evolved forms of Galarian Meowth, Galarian Zigzagoon, and Galarian Darumaka are also available as part of the event..

Previously, the only other Galarian form available in the game was Galarian Weezing, which was part of promotion for the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield. Niantic has announced a variety of other June events including the return of the solstice event, Community Day and more.
