you guys are all talking about price and all that

im surprised no one is really worried about lag and latency issues.

for me that's the biggest concern, cause if its not running seamlessly i can see myself getting frustrated with this service.

and i don't think the infrastructure is there yet to offer that.

The day that I buy a PS4 is the day that it is better than my PS3. My PS3 is awesome. It plays every PS1, PS2 and PS3 game that I have ever bought. It's 1tb HDD holds all of my PS Store purchases as well as tons of music, photos, and videos. I have great games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Last of Us, Heavenly Sword, God of War, Killzone, Uncharted, Demon Souls, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Heavy Rain, Twisted Metal, etc etc etc. That's not even going into the many awesome games from previous generations. My PS3 has wifi, Netflix, Amazon Video, Youtube, plays blurays and syncs with my PSvita. If I had a PS4 right now it would be collecting dust. It can't play PS1 or PS2 games. It can't play my purchased PS3 games. It can't play all the games I bought from Playstations own store. It's best games I already have on the PS3. 99% of it's future games will be on my PC. I want a PS4, but my PS3 is a hard act to follow and my PC is picking up the next-gen slack.

This will never work in Australia (or many other places). While a good 5mbps connection may suffice, it is the latency that will really determine how good the experience is. I can barely stream steam games from one computer to another over my (fast) wireless network. My best hope for backwards compatibility is that ps4 or X1 gets an emulator update.

If the subscription plan is affordable and the library big enough I would definitely consider this as a monthly service I'd pay for...so I don't have to dig out my old Playstation consoles to play some of my favorite games! Just think of all the hard drive space I'll save! :D

For those that are considering using this service:

What would be a selling point for you? Is there anything you would get rid of?

A selling point for me would be classics at a really low pricepoint. I'd get rid of the 4 hour rental or have it as a free 4 hour trial.

This is a beta. They are using it to improve their service through feedback. Why should we, the Sony customers, be paying a premium to be their guinea pigs?

They should get rid of the 4 hour rental. You're essentially paying for a timed demo and those used to be free. Even the fastest of games take about 6-8 hours to complete with a walkthrough and that means 2 purchases when you could go straight for the 7 day rental.

The list of games so far is pretty weak. There's only a couple that were released in the past 2 years. I was hoping to find something worth while that I didn't own or already play

This could be huge for them, but not at those prices. I think if they can get near a $25 a month for all you can play, then they will hit 10 million subscribers in no time flat.
