PlayStation Now Adds These Five New Games

Nearly 60 new games have been added to PlayStation Now so far this year.

The PlayStation Now streaming service has added a handful of Capcom games. Sony announced today that five new titles from the Japanese publisher are available through the service, including Devil May Cry 4 and Devil May Cry HD Collection (Devil May Cry 1, 2, and 3 were already there), as well as Dark Void, Darkstalkers Resurrection, and Final Fight: Double Impact.

There are currently more than 300 games available in the PlayStation Now library. Sony typically adds new ones on a monthly basis, having released nearly 60 new games into the program thus far this year.

40-plus titles were added in January, a further seven came in February, and 10 more arrived in March.

Individual game rental pricing varies by duration, while all-you-can-play subscriptions cost $20/month. PlayStation Now, a streaming service, is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita, as well as some Sony TVs and the recently discontinued PlayStation TV.

PlayStation Now April 2016 New Releases:

  • Devil May Cry 4
  • Devil May Cry HD Collection
  • Dark Void
  • Darkstalkers Resurrection
  • Final Fight: Double Impact

It's cheaper to buy a PS3. Buy a PS3 and buy NieR and Valkyria Chronicles. It'd be hardly more than the price of a full year of PS Now, if at all. And from experience, PS Now works horribly. And they won't refund you for bad service, either.

One of the biggest rip offs in all of gaming.. You have to be an absolute moron to pay for this garbage. Ends up being about $180 per year to play PS3 games lol.. Take your free 7 day trial then never look back!

I'm always going to prefer gaming using local installs being processed by a local machine, locally polling my controller/kbm inputs, and outputting direct to local display/sound, that's just a given, but internet speed and remote game streaming algorithms have improved tremendously.

Hard to deny a $99/y package. Good for visitors and stuff, just to have hundreds of extra available game choices on hand - even if it's slightly sub-optimal by my personal standards. I might spring for it if I can get that deal.

I see this and backwards compatibility serving different needs and functions, different devices, etc. B/C may be "free!" but there's no f-ing way I still own even 10% of the PS Now games, so I'd also use it as a way to catch up on unplayed/partially played/played a bit elsewhere- type of games.

@runstalker: Except it's not $99 a year. It was that for a small two-month window during the holidays. Now, and before that small window, it's $45 for 3 months.

Or, $180 a year.

Way too pricey in my opinion for games PS3 owners already own or have played.

When I first read the title of the article I thought it was saying that "PlayStation now adds these five new games". I didn't read it as being for "PlayStation Now".

Starting to hit a critical mass. I imagine more people are using this now than before, which in turn gives them confidence in the market to continue brokering more deals.

I much prefer to own.

But FWIW I tried the free demo a while back and was pretty impressed with how well it worked, particularly given that I tried it on my old PS3 over wifi with crappy internet. Also, to be fair, it's $15 a month if you go for the multi-month package, which isn't too bad.

@xantufrog: I look at PSNow as more of an experiment and learning experience for Sony. I think it's preparing for the all games being streamed future, both technically and in terms of market research and whatever.

@xenomorphalien:

I personally don't use it as much as my daughters, they are able to play all those games I personally would have never bought. Overall the service is OK,but it still needs the some work, for example:

More Japanese titles

And they should start to add some 1st gen PS4 titles.

This would make the service much better.

@xenomorphalien: I tried the free trial casually and forgot to cancel the subscription, but when I noticed a couple days ago I was still subscribed to it I decided to give it a thorough try. It actually works pretty well for me. I am located in South Korea and even though I have very fast internet, I thought maybe it would have input lag or something, but it runs smoothly for me. I tried GOW 3, Resident Evil 4, and a couple of the Assassin creed games and didn't notice anything different. I may keep it depending on how much I use it the next couple days..

@xenomorphalien: I did for 1 free month and paid for one more month. It was was okay but you need really fast internet (like 15mbps is barely adequate and isn't if other people are using the internet). Liked playing it on my Vita mostly. If MGS 4 comes to it I will get it again.

I'm currently taking part in the PSNow beta in Europe. I was given one free month to 'test' the service. There's a handful of games on there, including; TLOU, Infamous 1+2, God of War 1-3 & Killzone.

The service works fine, but the price they're aiming to release PSNow at is still much too steep for my tastes. I would definitely be more interested if there were a discount for PS+ subscribers. Currently there hasn't even been a rumor suggesting this might happen, however.

Knock Capcom all you want, but they make their games available to everyone which makes it easier to catch up with their games. Meanwhile, other Japanese devs are so anal about restricting their games to certain platforms, so it's impossible to catch up with a series.

@StayFrosty: thing is, some of those games(the ones not being localized) are super niche and it would not give them as much profit as one may think. Look at all the VNs we've been getting quiet recently. A few years ago it wouldn't have been wise because it wasn't that popular, the same with several other games sadly.

This is a nice service for some but it doesn't appeal to me. The pricing is a little steep for my liking, especially since GameFly is cheaper and gives you a physical copy to use which is good for those with less than stellar internet.

@darksouls: Price is a little steep but you can find some deals. @CrusaderForever found a deal for $100.00 for a year. That amounts to about $8.33 per month. Not too bad.

I would like to see them offer a discount or package deal for PS+ subscribers. They would certainly have many more people signing on.

@RicanV: A discount would definitely make me jump in to play all the titles I've missed. I feel $100 a year is a pretty good deal but I dont have enough gaming time with school and work in the way to warrant a subscription service.

@RicanV: There has to be a delicate balance between what Sony can afford to charge (licensing fees, server load) and what would / may make PS Now a commercial success. Some ridiculously low fee like $4.99 per month may cause an explosion in subscribers...but if the infrastructure can't handle that load, Sony has a new set of problems on their hands.

Even at $100 there's clearly value. But you really have to have a lot of extra time on your hands and be into what is becoming retro gaming.

This isn't intended to be a MS vs Sony comment but I like the fact that I can occasionally fire up something like NBA Jam, Lego Star Wars or Heavy Weapon on my Xbox One. I already owned the games and the cross-compatibility comes at no additional cost. But I don't have the time or interest level to pay a monthly fee for access to hundreds of older games on my PS4.

@tjkraz: $100 a year for PS Now is a steal I must admit, but like GameFly you must have a lot of gaming time in order for it to be truly worth it. I do appreciate Backwards compatibility, I think it was a great move by MS and I wish Sony would do the same. In the end, the PS Now library is superior to the Backwards Compatible library but hopefully that will change soon and both we have equally stellar games. I do have to give the edge to BC though because you can play your own games for free, it just will take longer than PS Now for the majority of them.

I'd seriously like to know how many actually pay for and use this service regularly. Sony's so generous with their console sales numbers but that's about it till you read of a product or service getting discontinued out of the blue.

@lrdfancypants: I saw ReviewtechUSA stream one of the FEAR games (I believe FEAR 2) and I didn't really see any issues (other than the game freezing once for a very slight second). From my understanding, the sub price is the part that's keeping people from trying it, but when I pick up a PS4, I'll be sure to try it out (stuck with 360 and Wii last gen, been meaning to get a PS3 for a while now).

@LPDisturbedHU:

I don't sub it because I have a 360/PS3 still but I got 2 free 90 day rentals.

Gow1 & 2. I played both and besides 1 time for a second it played through both and if you sat next to me you'd of thought I was using a disc.

It works better than I'd of thought or expected.

Edit : the sub was on sale for $100 for a year which is cheap or its $19.99 a month or $15 a month if you get 3 months.

It's not bad if you haven't played a lot of the games.

@bobafetthatesu: I use it and love it. Playing through Ratchet and Clank Into the Nexus and loving it. Looking forward to Dark Void and Darkstalkers was well. The service has been spectacular. I took advantage of the $99/year deal which was nice. It works great on the Vita as well. I highly recommend it.
