Peter Molyneux, the famed video game designer known for his work on the Fable series and making bold claims about his projects, has begun to tease his next game.

Speaking to GameReactor, Molyneux said his next game has a mechanic that has "never been seen in a game before."

"I feel like we are exploiting that mechanic in a world and an environment which may be familiar to people. And because it is in a familiar environment, it'll be a lot fresher," Molyneux said. "And a lot of this is very mystical because I'm trying to avoid to tell you what it's like. But it's going to be a lot more like a kind of Fable, Black and White, Dungeon Keeper kind of experience."

Molyneux admitted that, for past game announcements or teases, he would go into more specifics and tell everyone why he believed his next game would be "the most brilliant game in the world." But for his next title with his independent studio 22cans, Molyneux wants to avoid doing that people people might get "very annoyed and angry."

Whereas some of Molyneux's latest games have been made for mobile, this next game could be released on PC and console, he said. "I'm not saying that we're never going to do it on mobile, but we're definitely leading on PC and console, mainly because we need the power," he said.

Also in the interview, Molyneux said he is taking a very hands-on role for this new game, which will be the first since Black & White (2001) that he's done coding work for.

Founded in 2012 after Molyneux left Microsoft, 22Cans made a splash with the mobile game/social media experiment, Curiosity: What's Inside the Cube?, going on to produce the Kickstarter game Godus in 2014. Molyneux later spoke about the threats he and his family received over that game. 22Cans later released a game called The Trail.

Molyneux is known for his passion and exuberance about games. However, he's also been criticized for over-promising and under-delivering, something he has openly admitted to.

He explained to The Guardian that his intention is never to purposefully mislead people. Sometimes, due to his passion for ideas and concepts, he talks about features without knowing whether or not they are technically possible.

"I say these ideas so passionately, people think that these are hard and fast promises," he said. "I truly believe them when I say them, but as you know, sometimes they don't come to pass. They don't come to pass because they're too technically difficult, they don't come to pass because maybe they don't fit and people see this as being a promise."

Keep checking back for more on Molyneux's next game.
