PC Versions of Xbox One's Scalebound, Crackdown 3, Quantum Break Not Ruled Out

"It's not to say those games could never come to Windows..."

Microsoft has no plans to bring Xbox One games Scalebound, Crackdown 3, or Quantum Break to PC right now, but they could be released for computers later, Xbox boss Phil Spencer says in a new interview.

Speaking with PC Gamer, the executive explained that these games aren't coming to PC, at least not right away, because development on these projects began before he laid out his vision for gaming on Windows when he took on the role of Head of Xbox.

"In the case of things like Scalebound or Crackdown or Quantum Break, you know, just to be completely honest with you, we started those games before we really looked at expanding into Windows in the way that I wanted to bring as part of becoming Head of Xbox," he said.

When he was promoted to Head of Xbox in March 2014, Spencer said he was hoping to promote the Xbox brand as an ecosystem that spans multiple devices, including Xbox and PC. At the time, he said he believes "in the power of technology to bring games and entertainment to life across console, PC, tablet, and mobile devices."

In the interview, Spencer went on to say that asking the Scalebound, Crackdown 3, and Quantum Break development teams to add another platform to their plate wasn't in the best interest of the games. That "didn't really feel like necessarily the best way to end up with the best result for the game," he said.

No Caption Provided

PC versions of Scalebound, Crackdown, and Quantum Break have definitely not been ruled out, however, Spencer stressed.

"It's not to say those games could never come to Windows, but right now we're on the path to finish the great games that they've started, and I want that to be the case," he said.

Two other Microsoft-published Xbox One games that eventually came to PC are Dead Rising 3 and Ryse: Son of Rome. A PC version of Sunset Overdrive is also up for consideration.

Xbox One games from Microsoft that are coming to PC include Fable Legends and Gears of War Ultimate Edition. In the case of Gears of War, Microsoft has confirmed that the PC edition will launch after the console version. But Microsoft has yet to announce specific release plans for Fable Legends.

lol, I knew most if not all of these games would come to PC eventually.

Just why he's saying it now is what's confusing me. As if people need less reasons to buy an Xbox One.

@naryanrobinson: well i agree, but most people consider 'console' exclusives to differ from PC since for some reason, they seem to think people won't want to jump from their consoles to PC or vice versa.

At least for me the only reason to get consoles IS the exclusives, but the most compelling reason to get a PS4 was MGS and thats coming to PC (but its still a 'console' exclusive) and as for Xbone it was D4 which is already on Steam.

I would like to see more and more companies do this, keep the console exclusivity, dump in all on the PC market.

@naryanrobinson: My thoughts exactly. Timing is probably because of Windows 10. Either way, it's not good news for Xbone.

@naryanrobinson: Microsoft knows full well people like you aren't gonna buy an XB1 anyway. For others, we get to play these games as they come out, not 2 years after everyone has moved on to other games.

@greaseman1985: 2 years? No. 6 months tops. I wouldn't even be surprised if they delay their releases so both versions come out at the same time.

Well you need to do some research because MS actually owns BOTH the IPs to those games. Hell Remedy went on saying that Quantum Break would be impossible without MS... So yes MS would see money from PC sales if those games were to go to the PC.

Where the hell is it said that MS are just the publisher???????? Are you just pulling things outta your ass or just plain lying. Visit the Scalebound site and scroll all the way down.

Matter fact...

Microsoft Trademarks Scalebound Months After Reveal;

http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/11/22/microsoft-trademarks-scalebound-months-after-reveal-are-we-finally-going-to-see-something-soon/

The same thing for Quantum Break. MS OWNS repeat OWNS the trademark/IP! Stop lying...

Whether its on Xbox or PC MS is getting money from the sales...

Here's another example: Alan wake publisher on console =MS. On PC it was Remedy..... Violently refuted.

@fedor: I can't help it if you don't have enough understanding of how business works. All you have proven is that MS doesn't always publish the PC version, you however have not proven that they make $0 from royalties from games published on their platform and/or graphics api.

If there was no money to be made in this, they wouldn't be doing it.

@suicidesn0wman: You don't get royalties from games you don't own. So unless they're selling them on windows's store they aren't making a thing. Don't come around saying I don't understand something when it's clear you don't know shit about it. And you actually think they get paid to use DX12, are you a retard? You think devs wouldn't run, not walk, to OpenGL in a heartbeat if that were the case? Do you even game on PC? Of course you don't, you've already been seen badmouthing it several times over. How about this, prove any of the BS you're typing is true, I've already showed you several examples of why you're an idiot, fanboy.

You and Greaseman can go play paddycake and diss PC gaming together some other time. Don't even bother replying if you don't have some actual substance to stand behind. And Sim City sucks, get Cities Skyline, or wait for it on X1.

@fedor: I have one of the older Cities games, I don't use my PC that often cause it's in a different room on the opposite side of the apt. And I won't be searching for any proof, waste of time, the bottom line is still that MS wouldn't promote a PC version of their X1 exclusives unless they could profit from it. At the end of the day, they're making money, and anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool.

@RoyialNetwork: people are just hoping it comes to pc but its not going to happen the lead guy from xbox said they are not even getting anymore 3rd party exclusives and the reason for that is Microsoft wants all exclusives to stay on xboxone so don't hold your breath on any of the up coming xboxone games ever coming to pc

@emptycow718: Um... Your comment makes no damn sense. As you said, they aren't getting 3rd party exclusives on X1. The 'lead guy' now said there won't be 1st party exclusives either - they're coming to PC. How can exclusives 'stay' on the X1 when there aren't going to be any?

Newer exclusive titles between the clients on pc, it is actually one of the few advantages they would have to steam since Valve seems to given up on making new titles. Still, would that be the case I'd buy those titles on xbox store on pc and everything else on steam. But atleast they'd lock down some cash from me. It would make the x1 less appealing though. There are more games I want to play than I have time for already so I'd have no problems waiting for a most likely better version.

I'm fairly confident Quantum will end up on pc regardless, Remedy has always wanted to make their games available on pc and so far has done so with all their xbox titles.

Remedy wants and always wanted to make all of their games for PC.

So yeah, sure there is a huge possibility of Quantum Break hitting PC, it's all up to MS and how long they want to keep it exclusive on Xbox One.

"I also think about some of the things in our past, as Microsoft, that we used to have on PC, and say, ‘Boy, wouldn’t it be great if we brought some of these games back purely on PC.’"

Just read this and I can not be happier that we have someone like Spencer running their gaming devision now. What idiots made the decision to only support Xbox and axe any and all PC franchises and studios.

Of course MS can support both Xbox and PC. And Spencer sees that potential.

If they want to make PC gaming a thing again from their side, then they need to make this a habit. Windows and Xbox should not be treated like separate platforms. Especially with the way Windows 10 is being marketed as a companion to Xbox One (and vice versa). That's my opinion, at least.

@Cyberjin: It will be an Xbox-Windows 10 thing, Killer Instinct and Fable Legends will both be cross buy and cross play, anything you buy on one version will be available on the other. It's up to the devs/pubs on if they want to allow it for multiplatform games.
