I would say that Falskaar should be game of the year. It was probably the most fun of many of the games I see up there.

While PoE is a fun game I wouldn't have pegged it for a GotY. Congrats to the guys/ladies at GG though. They made a fun game.

The Chakas are dancing hairy happiness in The Land Of The Lost at this greatest of gaming moments while feasting on fried T-Rex legs and sipping berry juice out of Sleestak skulls. Oh Happy Day!

i certainly disagree but hey... it's just GS' opinion. for me Europa Universalis 4 is clearly the pc goty this year.

too grindy for my liking sure i like a bit of challenge getting gear but grinding/farming "maps" for weeks only to get shitty loot isnt fun

i beat the final boss got the credits rolling and lost interest

They bashed Diablo 3 but they scored it 8.5 far from being bad. This is just GS riding on the D3 hate bandwagon.

Great pick. PoE is an extremely worthy choice for GotY.

So the race to the GTOY is now between The last of Us and Path of Exile huh? Kinda disappointing then.

Not a fantastic year for gaming to be honest... The Last of Us was my personal game of the year and I'm a hardcore PC gamer. I did enjoy Bioshock Infinite quite a bit though.

POE is a great game, I played it eight hours straight in the first day that I downloaded but for some reason never returned again.

The Last of Us and GTA V took one look at these clowns and laughed. Yep, and its on an 8 year old console.

to squash all arguments let's just say Kerbal Space Program is the best PC game of 2013 (although it still in alpha/beta/zeta/data)

Now yes, this game is awesome, but did it really beat Metro Last Light and Bioshock Infinite??? Yes PoE is FTP and yes I play it. But I don't like the lack of character customization (if you're the paladin, there's only one face and body, every paladin looks exactly the same. Unless of course you buy armor customization (cosmetic), which I did to support the developers. :O) It's a GREAT game, but I'm surprised it beat the aforementioned two titles

I wouldn't have chosen any of the games on that list that don't last more than a weekend.

One thing that Gamespot just never mentions is the innovative development process this game has, it's not rigid corporate crap and every aspect of the game improves incrementally.

I've been trying to get into it but can't - hasn't clicked with me yet really. As a result I would have given the award to Stanley Parable or Dota 2.

PoE is amazing, especially for a F2P, and its one of the best model out there.

However the "desync" is killing the enjoyment for most people. Nonetheless great game, currency is actually fun instead of being useless.

Its literally this simple...people who dont like POE either aren't a fan of diablo style games or they dont understand the game. i played d2 for over 8 years and i still play it from time to time and in the opinion of a hardcore d2 fan. PoE blows the entire diablo franchise out of the water.

the gaming industry needs more companies like GGG that have real artistic integrity and actually care about how good the game is. we need less companies like blizzard that design their games to pump as much profit out of it as they can. GGG > Blizzard.

What the hell is wrong with this site? Why is it so slow? This site is slow regardless of device (desktop, notebook, mobile).

POE requires a brain and judging by the comments peopled turned off by the game therefore lacked the connecting brain cells needed to play a click-fest.
