The cast of NBC's beloved workplace comedy Parks and Recreation are reuniting for a one-off special to help raise money for ongoing COVID-19 relief efforts.

The 30-minute special will feature the main cast who will appear in character. The show--"A Parks and Recreation Special"--is scheduled to air on Thursday, April 30 at 8:30 PM on NBC.

Cast members set to return for the reunion include Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Rob Lowe, Jim O'Heir, and Marietta Sangai Sirleaf, who is better known as Retta. Other characters from the Pawnee extended universe will also appear in the show, and we can only hope Andy Samberg's Ranger Carl is among them.

NBC said in a press release, "Pawnee’s most dedicated civil servant, Leslie Knope [Poehler], is determined to stay connected to her friends in a time of social distancing."

The show's partners, State Farm, Subaru of America, NBCUniversal, and the Parks and Rec writers, producers, and cast will donate $500,000 as part of the campaign.

Series co-creator Michael Schur said in a press release (via Entertainment Weekly), that he sent an email to the cast about the reunion special and they responded within 45 minutes.

New York Times writer Dave Itzkoff said the Parks and Rec reunion special was filmed under quarantine and social-distancing protocols.
