Paramount Plus Continues With Content Purge As More Shows Removed From Service

Inside Amy Schumer is the latest to be removed from the streaming service.

Earlier this month, Paramount+ canceled four original shows and then promptly removed them from the streaming service with no notice. Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies and Star Trek: Prodigy were among the shows that were pulled from the platform just last week, but they aren't the only victims. Deadline has confirmed that more shows are now gone from Paramount+.

Inside Amy Schumer, the comedy sketch show that was originally hosted by Comedy Central a decade ago, found a new home on Paramount's streamer, but is now gone after one revival season. That show is joined by the Dave Grohl docuseries Cradle to Stage; Tell Me a Story, an anthology thriller from Kevin Williamson; and Ghislaine: Partner in Crime, a docuseries about Jeffrey Epstein's partner that have been removed without warning.

The full list of things removed from the service can be seen below:

  • Fantasy Football
  • The Game
  • Ghislaine: Partner in Crime
  • Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies
  • From Cradle to Stage
  • Inside Amy Schumer
  • Queen of the Universe
  • Snow Day
  • Star Trek: Prodigy
  • Tell Me a Story

This tactic mirrors a growing trend among streaming platforms to remove content based on various factors. Warner Bros. Discovery, led by David Zaslav, has been at the forefront of such removals on Max, while Disney+ and Hulu have recently followed suit.

There was a small wave of support for Star Trek: Prodigy on social media, but after the show was removed, it stirred up even more outrage from fans. CBS Studios will complete post-production on Season 2 and seek alternative outlets for distribution.

While Paramount did not disclose specific information to justify the cancellations, an individual familiar with the matter revealed that the decision was data-driven. It's also uncertain whether the shows will still be available to buy digitally and physically or if they will completely disappear forever.

Update: We have removed mention of the Nickelodeon shows being removed from Paramount+, after it was confirmed to GameSpot that they remain intact. A source at Paramount also notes that content is added and removed from the service regularly.
