City builder simulation Cities Skyline 2 launches later this month, and excitement has been building among the community as the days inch closer. However, developer Paradox Interactive has posted a warning to fans that the game may not perform to the best of its ability right at launch.

In a post on the developer's Paradox Plaza forum, the official Cities Skylines account lays out the issues at hand, with the statement saying that the team has not achieved the benchmark targeted during development. The post cites the hardware requirements of making a next-gen title among the reasons for the miss. However, the team still considers releasing on time as "the best way forward."

"We will continually improve the game over the coming months, but we also want to manage expectations on performance for the coming release," the post reads. "Our ambition is for Cities: Skylines II to be enjoyed by as many players as possible, and we're committed to ensuring it reaches its full potential."

The post comes after the team "noticed concerns" from players about the game's performance after the company announced the game's minimum requirements last week. Those requirements, as posted on the game's official Steam listing, include the following:

  • 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 Home 64 Bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-6700K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 (4 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 480 (8 GB)
  • Storage: 60 GB available space

Cities Skyline 2 launches October 24 for PC, with a console release scheduled for Q2 2024.
