Palworld, the monster-collecting, multiplayer survival game made infamous by the fact that its cute creature companions can wield guns, is releasing very soon, and will additionally launch on Game Pass for both consoles and PC.

As revealed in a new trailer, Palworld will release on January 19 for Xbox consoles, Game Pass, and PC via Steam. Palworld supports up to four players playing together, with up to 32 players per server. Developer Pocketpair notes on the game's Steam page that future updates will increase the game's server size and enable PvP, a feature not included at launch.

As for what will be included in the Early Access version of Palworld, Pocketpair states players will be able to collect over 100 types of creatures, called Pals, and, uh, do all kinds of terrible things with them. The game's Steam page proudly declares that there are no labor laws for Pals, so they can be used to build structures, generate power, farm, and run factories so that players can "live a life of comfort."

"Build a factory, place a Pal in, and they'll keep working as long as they're fed--until they're dead, that is," Palworld's Steam page declares.

When players aren't enslaving or selling their Pals, they can also be used to explore the game's open world and traverse dangerous dungeons, where players can sacrifice Pals should enemies prove too difficult. Pals are also critical to the game's survival elements, with Pocketpair stating that in harsh environments where food and supplies are scarce, players may have to make difficult choices to survive, including, apparently, "eating your own Pals when the times comes."

Over the course of Early Access Pocketpair plans to add additional content, including new Pals, dungeons, and buildings for players to craft, and will be listening to player feedback when it comes to introducing new systems or ideas not included at launch. According to Pocketpair, Palworld's price may increase following the game's Early Access period. No specific time period was given for how long Palworld will be in Early Access, but Pocketpair does state on the game's Steam page that Early Access could be extended or cut short if it is satisfied with the state of the game.
