Overwatch's New Event Takes Ashe To Mardi Gras
Plus the Experimental Card is now live.
Overwatch has started up a new limited-time event that takes the character Ashe and gives her a Mardi Gras makeover. The Ashe's Mardi Gras Challenge event goes from February 25 through March 9, and will reward you with new cosmetics including a new epic skin for playing and watching Overwatch matches.
To earn the new skin, you just need to win nine games sometime during the event period, across Quick Play, Competitive Play, or Arcade modes. You'll earn a few other cosmetic rewards as you hit other milestones on your way to that one. The Mardi Gras Ashe skin likewise gives a new gussied-up look to her robot companion Bob. Meanwhile, you can earn up to five new sprays total by watching participating Twitch streamers.
The event update also marks the beginning of the new Experimental Mode. The new mode, announced when Blizzard detailed its hero pools feature, will let players opt into major gameplay changes. It functions similar to the PTR, but it's available across both PC and console and since it's available through the main menu, it's easier to jump in and out of the experiments as you please. Plus in Experimental Mode, your progress is saved as usual.
Blizzard is currently at work on Overwatch 2, which continues the story of the game in a new campaign but will cross-pollinate players with original Overwatch owners for multiplayer. We've also seen recent indication that an Overwatch cartoon is in the works, along with another one of Blizzard's most popular series, Diablo.
