Outriders Preorder Guide: Get These Bonuses When You Preorder Before Thursday

The cooperative RPG-shooter from People Can Fly releases this week on consoles and PC.

People Can Fly's RPG-shooter Outriders is set to release this Thursday, April 1 for PS5/PS4, Xbox Series X/Xbox One, PC, and Stadia--and we're pretty sure it's not an April Fools' joke. The new co-op shooter is available to preorder now on all platforms, and by doing so, you secure a content pack full of in-game gear.

If you're planning to play Outriders on PS4 or Xbox One first and upgrade to a next-gen console later, you're covered. Outriders comes with a free next-gen upgrade, so you don't need to buy the game twice. No matter what version you buy for Xbox, you can play it on either platform. PlayStation users, however, need to make sure they're buying the right version. The PS4 edition works on both Sony platforms, but if you specifically buy the PS5 version, it will only work on PS5.

If you plan to play on Xbox, you should consider subscribing to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. It's only $1 for your first month, and you'll get access to Outriders as the shooter comes to the service on launch day. If you're already subscribed, you're good to go. For more on exactly when you can start playing the game this week, see the Outriders pre-load and launch schedule.

If you preorder Outriders, you'll receive the Hell's Rangers Content Pack, which comes with a ton of in-game goodies:

  • Hell's Rangers truck mods and decals

Published by Square Enix, Outriders was originally revealed at E3 2019. Though it was set to release in late 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a couple of delays. When we checked it out about a year ago, we thought Outriders played like a cross between Gears of War and Mass Effect.

In Outriders, you play as a created character with one of four unique character classes. It takes place in a world where Earth has become uninhabitable due to climate change. Set on the alien planet of Enoch, you embark on an expedition to save humanity, only to be caught in a strange storm that gives you superpowers. While Outriders can be played solo, it's designed to be a cooperative experience for three players. Outriders features Gears-style gunplay with role-playing game systems such as leveling, weapon customization, and the chase for rare loot.
