Orphen First Impression
Based on the anime of the same name, the action-RPG Orphen is headed to North American shores early next year, thanks to Activision.
Kadokawa Shoten, the Japanese developer partly responsible for Lunar: Silver Star Story, as well as the Slayers Royal series for the Sega Saturn, is currently working on a PS2 action-RPG based on the anime/manga series Orphen: Sorcerous Stabber.
From what we've seen, the game will incorporate a host of gameplay elements into its design, including a lively amount of platform jumping and dungeon exploration. In addition, it boasts a semi-turn-based combat system. The game's narrative revolves around Orphen, a social pariah and wandering sorcerer, and his unlikely companions.
Orphen is already out in Japan, so expect some hands-on impressions and an import review very soon. For now, take a look at these screens and movies.
