Consulting firm Deloitte & Touche has released its 1998 Software Industry Annual Report, reviewing the "major developments, changes, and disappointments in the software industry for 1997, along with perspectives and projections for 1998."
While the report touches on a range of issues affecting the software industry - e-commerce, Java, and the Asian economic crisis among others - the report also makes the prediction that the online gaming business is going to continue growing, and that revenues from computer games online will reach the US$1 billion level by the year 2000.
