One Of The Best Games In Years Just Came To Game Pass

Celeste has joined the library.

The calendar has rolled over to August, and with that, another high-profile game has been added to the Xbox Game Pass library. Added on August 1 was the excellent platformer Celeste, which was one of 2018's best games alongside titles like Red Dead Redemption II, God of War, and Return of the Obra Dinn.

Celeste is available now for Game Pass subscribers across console, PC, and the cloud.

To say much about the story in Celeste might be giving too much away, but suffice it to say, the game was praised for its powerful story about a difficult subject matter. The game, which focuses on a character named Madeline who is climbing a mountain, also earned plaudits for its art and music that help to elevate the overall experience. Here at GameSpot, we scored Celeste a 9/10.

August is another big month for Game Pass. Beyond Celeste, the library will add the adventure game A Short Hike on August 3, side-scrolling run 'n gun game Broforce Forever on August 8, and the adored puzzle-platformer game Limbo on August 9.

Following a recent price hike, Game Pass now costs $17/month for the Ultimate version and $11/month for the standard membership on console. PC Game Pass, meanwhile, did not see an increase and remains priced at $10/month. PC Game Pass and Ultimate have one-month $1 trials available for new members.

A new option called Game Pass Core, featuring a limited selection of titles, launches in September.

Game Pass could see a bunch more additions in the future if Microsoft's deal to buy Activision Blizzard goes through. Keep checking back with GameSpot for more on Game Pass.
