One Destiny 2 Player Has Managed To Solo The Nezarec Raid Boss Fight

Nezarec was no match for one determined Guardian.

Destiny 2 raids are generally one of the toughest PvE activities in the game, as they usually require tight teamwork, coordination, and plenty of firepower, especially when you reach the final boss. At least that's the experience for most players, as one Guardian has managed to defeat the final god of pain himself, Nezarec, without any help from his fireteam.

The Snazzy Rock took on the former Disciple of The Witness all by his lonesome, using key Exotics such as Eriana's Vow and Sunbracer Gauntlets as part of his strategy. The Exotic hand cannon was useful for landing massive critical hit damage on Nezarec, while the Sunbracer Gauntlets synergized well with a Warlock Solar build that allowed Snazzy Rock to do some crowd control between damage phases.

A grenade launcher with a blinding effect was the other key part of this puzzle and helped keep enemies at bay as Snazzy Rock ran around the stage. The Root of Nightmates raid is considered to be one of the easier Destiny 2 raids, but it's still impressive that it took a month for a single player to earn this accomplishment.

The Destiny 2 player managed to defeat Nezarec in 11 minutes, which is believed to be a world's first for a solo run at the raid boss. Another key part of Snazzy Rock's strategy involved quickly switching loadouts to help maximize his damage against Nezarec, which you can see in the video above.

What makes this run even more noteworthy is that the Nezarec boss fight has a unique gameplay mechanic revolving around the activation of light and dark nodes on the map, and one wrong step can lead to your entire fireteam being instantly wiped out. Juggling that puzzle, taking out a small army of Shadow Legion soldiers, and avoiding an angry scythe-wielding giant isn't easy for six players, let alone a single Guardian.

It's worth noting that this raid boss fight does have a peculiar bug, as using a Warlock Well of Radiance Super leaves Nezarec in a state where he's slow to respond with lethal force. Bungie plans to address that issue in a future update, so this exploit won't be valid for too much longer. A few other fixes will be hitting Destiny 2 soon, including damage adjustments for Quicksilver Storm and Touch of Malice.
