Graphics manufacturer Nvidia has released the GeForce Go6800 notebook graphics processor. The GeForce Go6800 is virtually identical to Nvidia's desktop GeForce 6800 chip, with 12-pixel pipelines, 256MB of RAM, and support for Shader Model 3.0. Initial GeForce Go6800 GPUs feature a 300MHz engine core and 600MHz DDR memory. Nvidia has stated that it will release higher clock-speed variants at a later date. In our tests, the GeForce Go6800 averaged over 50 frames per second while running Doom 3 at 1280x1024 on an Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz processor. The Go6800 scored 2735 3DMarks in 3DMark05 at 1024x768. Launch partners for the GeForce Go6800 include Alienware, Falcon Northwest, ProStar, Sager, and Voodoo PC. For more on the GeForce Go6800 GPU, check out GameSpot's hands-on preview.
