Nintendo Switch's Fighter Arms Adds A New Character This Weekend, Watch A Trailer Here

Fight with Twintelle in the next round of the Global Testpunch.

Nintendo has announced you'll be able to fight with a new character in this weekend's round of Arms' Global Testpunch. She's called Twintelle, and she fights using her hair, which is pretty awesome. Take a look at her moves in the trailer below.

This weekend's Testpunch periods will be the last chance you'll get to play Arms before it's released on June 16. Take a look at the session times below.

June 2

  • 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET / 1 AM BST

June 3

  • 5 AM PT / 8 AM ET / 1 PM BST
  • 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET / 7 PM BST
  • 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET / 1 AM BST

June 4

  • 5 AM PT / 8 AM ET / 1 PM BST
  • 11 AM PT/ 2 PM ET / 7 PM BST

Nintendo recently aired a Nintendo Direct broadcast focused on Arms, during which the company unveiled new characters and game modes--see some of them in action here. We also got to go hands-on with the title and found it to be deeper than you might expect.

The Japanese publisher has also said it will continue supporting Arms after release with free updates, including additional characters, stages, and weapons. Amazingly, the base game only takes up 2.2 GB if you download it.

The only worry I have is the fact you seem (I might be wrong) to be able to get the same fists across characters in the full game making most of the characters the same bar movement speed i know they have a signature MOVE but I think they should have created a deeper combo and special move system. I think the fact they have a motion system in place has screwed the game a bit, the minute I stopped using it and used my pro controller it was way better. But still there wasn't many combos going or special moves, at the end of the day that is the meat and veg of a decent fighting game

Nintendo gave a Black video game character "weaponized" hair. That's a problem.

(Black female hair is political, even a weapon in digital realms)

Note: this came from social media, not from me

@davillain-: Why are you ignoring the context in which that article was written?

@charlton2: I never did. This article is talking about Twintelle introduction after all.

Also, I'm really looking forward to playing Arms both me and my Daughter will be happy playing it on our Nintendo Switch.

@lionheartssj1: The context of that article was that US society believes the hair style within the Black culture ranges from unprofessional (at the least) to hideous (at the worst).

@charlton2: Without having seen the article you guys are referring to...my initial reaction would be to say I don't think a game about characters with stretchy (apparently robotic) appendages fighting each other really belongs in that conversation. They might be digging too deep for the sake of rabble rousing. It's a popular thing to do now-a-days.

I have a Switch and I'm completely uninterested in this game. Is that weird?

@superklyph:

If you haven't tried the testpunch I would check it out. Maybe it will change your mind.

If you have tried the test punch then there is nothing weird about you being uninterested in a game. There are PS4 exclusives I'm not interested in even though I own a PS4. It's all down to taste.

@superklyph: You should give the testpunch a go.

I thought this game looked like cartoons, kiddie crap.

While the aesthetic is certainly cartoony, the game is much deeper than I thought it would be and now I'm completely sold.
