Nintendo Switch Version Of Secret Of Mana Sequel Teased

New video tweeted out of Seiken Densetsu 3 being played on Switch.

20 Comments

Secret of Mana fans are getting quite the tease today: the series' official Japanese Twitter account has tweeted out a video of Seiken Densetsu 3 being played on a Nintendo Switch.

The 1995 game is the sequel to Secret of Mana, but it was only ever released on the Super Famicom in Japan. Unlike Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3 was never released on the Wii U's Virtual Console.

Now Playing: GS News Update: Nintendo Switch Version Of Secret Of Mana Sequel Teased

We’re still waiting to hear from Nintendo on when it plans to release Switch's Virtual Console. At Switch's launch, the company said fans can expect more information soon. We're already seeing some classic games pop up in the eShop; Hamster Corporation has released several Neo Geo titles.

In the meantime, fans of the Mana series can hold out hope they'll get to play SD3 in the future. Even if the game is only released in Japan, the Switch's region-free settings mean players from anywhere in the world would have their chance to wield the Mana Sword on Nintendo's new console.

If they do translate and release this overseas, then please fix the bug where if you use an escape rope during Hawk's penultimate dungeon, you can't get back in to the bottom section. Losing the game at the very end was pretty frustrating.

"Several Neo Geo titles" It's like a third of the entire library!

If they can make it, then go for it... if they are going to destroy it, then forget it.

God i played throug this game with every character and again a couole years later. Best 16/32 bit Adventure JRPG ever made if you ask me. I wouldnt be surprised if this was a stand alone game and not virtual console.

For decades I have insulted Square for refusing to localize this amazing game. What in the bloody hell has taken you so long? You've released FF4 approximately 17 times on 13 platforms, yet this game still has never been localized?

@Thanatos2k: To be fair FF4 deserves that praise to be rerelease that many times cause it is one of the two best FF next to FF9.

@Zignoff: I finally got around to playing FF:IV when it came out on the PSP, and I really didn't care for it. It think it gets held up my nostalgia too much.

@Thanatos2k:

I wouldn't get your hopes up. The picture was from a Japanese Twitter account. In other words, it could still not be localized, and could be a Japanese only release.

At least the Switch is region-free though. Too bad I don't know Japanese :/

@doctor_mg: Probably pull the same idiocy that they've done with Mother 3.

@Thanatos2k:

Yep, Square Enix just commented on it. The Seiken Densetsu collection will be released in June...Japan only.

Nintendo needs to get on localizing Mother 3. I'd love to give them my money, but so far I've settled for the fan translated ROM.

Oh hell yes!

Loved the original. Playing with friends was so fun on the SNES with the multiplayer tap.

I played and replayed Secret of Mana so much. It'd be great to get this.
