Nintendo Switch Version Of Rayman Legends Has "Several Surprises"

The excellent platformer Rayman Legends is coming to the Nintendo Switch in the form of a Definitive Edition, which Ubisoft calls the "ultimate edition" of the 2013 game. Today, Nintendo published a new video in which Rayman creator Michel Ancel talks about his reaction to the Switch and why he thinks it's a good fit for the platformer.

"Rayman Legends is like a board game," Ancel said. "It means playing with your friends in the same room, and this console is perfect for that. It's the concept of console we've been waiting for a long time. An HD console, powerful, portable."

Now Playing: GS News Update: Nintendo Switch Version Of Rayman Legends Has "Several Surprises"

Ancel went on to say that Rayman Legends for Switch is "like a love story between Nintendo and Rayman because of course the colorful universe and the Rayman spirit go perfectly with Nintendo's spirit."

Ancel went on to say that the Switch version of Rayman Legends will include "several surprises," in addition to the Kung Foot mode. He didn't reveal any of the surprises, but teased, "We are preparing other surprises because the console has a lot of qualities in the multiplayer area."

Rayman Legends is one of three games that Ubisoft has announced for the Switch. The other two are Just Dance 2017, which is a launch title for the Switch, and the open-world extreme sports game Steep. Release dates for the Switch version of Rayman Legends and Steep have not been announced.

The Switch goes on sale on March 3.

Since they love releasing 18,6,5 year old games on switch and a lot of people own those games , Why not release MVC 3, they are releasing it for PC before 4th game, so why not try to get it for Switch?? I or any gamer can give them bigger list for remasters .... Nope they are """"Family centric""""" idiots.

Nobody gives a F about rebuy rayman legends 4th time, like nobody will buy skyrim 4th time "i don't even get why people bought HD version". Nintendo is full with blind people i'm tired with cheering for them and it's going to be hard them to me be wrong, Last thing i will buy will be new zelda Wii U version and not a new console.

I really hope Nintendo has a lot of first party games to show us at E3 this year because relying on 3rd party developers is a joke. Rayman legends is a great game but it's been out for years now.

@fig56: Nintendo definitely needs 3rd party support! What I am saying is that since 3rd parties are not going to fully support the Switch Nintendo needs to go all in. Trust me... I doubt there is a gamer alive that doesn't want a Nintendo console to have full 3rd party support.

Nintendo...WTF ARE YOU DOING???

Why don't you just hire the Project M guys and release Smash Bros Melee 2 and start releasing more new IPs or strike a deal with Capcom and start Viewtiful Joe'ing again or something because Splatoon 2 or Rayman Legends isn't going to cut it. I want to play Mario Odyssey but I already have a Wii U for Zelda so WTF

@jjopoku: IMO (along with many others), Melee was the best Smash game out of the 4 released. And I'm sure a lot of people did. Both games were great.

I hate to admit it but I bought this for PS3, Vita and will probably buy for Switch I love Rayman and its a game you can play on the go or play a level or two when you have a little bit of time without a lot of time commitment. I got Plat on Origins on PS3 and Vita and on Legends got all the trophies but a handful, mostly that last level of awesomeness as the online portion took for ever... so would you call that a tripdip?

They should have just made a new one. I get it, the Wii U bombed--so the 3rd party wants to take a wait and see approach. But their waiting for the consumer and the consumer is waiting for them.

@isariamkia: Yeah that's good for you, but its not exactly like Legends was hard to come by. It was basically on every platform out there. Take home is, for this system to be successful; it may not need every single third party game. But it needs more than ports and hopefully publishers aren't sitting around waiting to see if the user base explodes and people are buying up a game from 2013.
