Nintendo Handhelds Have Magi-Nation

The newly formed Seattle-based company Interactive Imagination has revealed its Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance projects. The company will release role-playing games based on its flagship franchise, Magi-Nation, for the current and upcoming Nintendo handhelds. According to the company, Magi-Nation is a blend of classical adventure-RPG and modern collection game. A new game engine for the Game Boy Advance version of Magi-Nation will be developed later this year, and Interactive Imagination expects to release the game within six months of the GBA launch in the US.

"Magi-Nation is a real revelation of what is graphically possible on the Game Boy Color hardware," said Patrick Meehan, the game's director. "Our team has worked hard to make the story exciting and funny. The narrative was written by longtime RPG gamers, and their love of the genre shines through."

Interactive Imagination plans to release a total of four games in the Magi-Nation franchise. All the subsequent games are candidates for release on the GBC and GBA. The company also plans to release online multiplayer games based on Magi-Nation.
