At its pre-E3 press conference this morning, Nintendo announced that it's collaborating with Orlando-based n-Space to develop a new action game called Geist. In the game, you'll assume the role of a ghost with the ability to possess other characters by virtually entering their bodies. The gameplay will purportedly be a combination of both stealth and action, although more specific information has not been released at this time. The footage of the game we were shown at the conference saw the player floating around invisibly before taking control of a female character and then attempting to make it past a security guard.

"This collaboration with n-Space is another step we're taking to expand our global development resources as we continue to make games that appeal to all gaming audiences," said Peter MacDougall, executive vice president, sales and marketing, Nintendo of America. "Geist will provide players with a truly innovative experience only available on the Nintendo GameCube."

We'll bring you more information on Geist as soon as it becomes available.
