New Xbox One Backwards Compatible Game Now Available

Microsoft is making a ton of new titles backwards compatible with Xbox One this month. Along with the 19 original Xbox games coming to Xbox One's backwards compatible library throughout April, a new 360 title is now playable on the current-gen console, and it even receives enhancements on Xbox One X.

As revealed during the latest episode of Inside Xbox, Sonic Generations is now playable on Xbox One. The game originally released in 2011 and features both classic 2D and modern 3D Sonic game styles. You can read more about it in our original Sonic Generations review.

If you own a disc of Sonic Generations, you can simply pop it into your Xbox One X and begin playing. If you own the game digitally, it will be waiting for you in the Ready to Download section of the My Games and Apps menu. You can also purchase a digital copy of the game from the Xbox Store.

On top of its backwards compatibility, Sonic Generations is one of six new 360 games to receive an update adding Xbox One X support. In addition to it, Red Dead Redemption, Gears of War 2, Portal 2, Darksiders, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed also now run in higher resolution and feature other visual improvements when played on Xbox One X.

The next batch of original Xbox backwards compatible games arrives next week, on April 17, and includes The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Conker: Live & Reloaded, Jade Empire, and Panzer Dragoon Orta. Another wave arrives the following week, on April 26, and adds Destroy All Humans, MX Unleashed, Full Spectrum Warrior, and an assortment of Star Wars titles, including Knights of the Old Republic II.
